Hi, welcome to the forums!
Hiring someone, such as an attorney, can end up being very costly. And in that process, you could have used that money to pay of a real account.
Use Jessi's recommendation, and do this yourself. If you viewed your credit report online, you click dispute on the items you believe to be false, or incorrect. If you're viewing a paper copy, there should be a phone number with instructions on how to file a dispute.
The dispute period can last anywhere from 30-60 days. Be patient. If the reporting bureau comes back and says there was evidence that the item is in fact correct, then you should contact the lendor/creditor with your own validation letter.

You are able to figure out the inaccurate, duplicated and old information in your file. If you hire someone, he will also give you the same info and dispute the item with the bureaus. The bureaus will correct the info and give you an updated credit report. Why pay someone else for the work that you can do on your own? This will save your money.
