Well, as I posted last month, hubby signed up with our local CCCS office to get out of his debt. We made a partial payment on Friday and will pay the rest this coming Friday by money order. For some reason, everything has to be by money order but I get them free through my bank. They told us they could help with our second mortgage through Beneficial. We all just love them, right? (sarcasam) Yesterday morning, he got a call from Beneficial and of course they said they don't deal with consolidation programs. This frustrated him so I told him to end the call and call CCCS when this happens, so he did. The proposals are going out this week and they even confirmed with the local Beneficial office that this was possible. They have helped others in our area the same way. The proposal letter will be sent to the local branch so there shouldn't be any problems. I just get frustrated on how rude some of their collectors can be when people in the local office can be so nice. It seems that it is night and day. He even made an interest payment a couple of weeks ago so he wouldn't be late. He did this with Citifinacial and American General as well. They were fine with it. At least it's a step in the right direction. Money is tight right now so I have to call my car loan company to see what I can come up with them for the next couple of months. I don't want to skip my debt settlement payment this month or get behind on other bills. Hubby's hours just changed at work so he won't be able to look for a steady part-time job right now until things settle down at work. Several people were laid off last week so we are grateful he was able to keep his job. It's been a rough road but we are making it through. :)

Good for you for keeping such a positive outlook on things! I hope other people read your post so they can see that even though the road to recovery from PDLs can be long and tedious, if you stay on top of things, you can keep it under control. I'm glad your husband got to keep his job, and I hope you have good luck with your car loan company. :-)

Also, I am disputing something with one of my hubby's other personal loans. I paid it off last month and now they say we owe more money. Not by my calculations so I asked them to send me a payment history so I can go over it with mine. When I called last month, they gave me the pay off balance so that's what we paid. We'll get it figured out though. :P :P :P

Now, I just have to wait and hear back from my debt settlement company regarding the conversation I had with my car loan company a little while ago. They said they can refinance my car loan even though I'm in debt settlement and the bad marks on my credit report right now. They said they would need proof that I'm in debt settlement, no problemo. They need this because it's not referenced on my credit report and they have to check my credit report, no matter what. Also, since I don't want to borrow anymore money she didn't seem to think that this would be a problem because I have always been a good customer. I have a long history with them so I guess that helps me. She said they would have to turn it over to their home office but would put the notes on my account to let them know the situation. I just need to know if I can have the hit on my credit report right now. If it's a go, then I wouldn't have to make a payment until December and this would give us some much needed breathing room.

I applaud your positive attitude, Mishele. When I was looking for help before I signed with a debt settlement co, your words of encouragement helped through the process. I thank you so much for that.
I had to wheel & deal with my husbands car loan company. They were ready to repo the car. I got that settled. I need the car as my Jeep lease is up next month & I will be driving his car, against my better judgement. It is a little sports car, & I live out in the country in Michigan. Thats why I leased the Jeep, but at this time, we don't need & can't afford 2 vehicle payments. He is in Germany working, so his car is available. I will just grit my teeth & drive it.
I got a small part time job yesterday! I start tomorrow. It is only 2 hrs a day, 5 days a week. It is cleaning up the lunchroom at a local school. It is only 4 miles from my house, so that is convenient. Due physical problems, I'm limited to the hrs I can work, so it may be a small job, but it is still a little money on top of my retirement!

Mary Ann,

Thanks for the kind words. Congrats on your new job! I think that every little bit helps. I will be doing demos this fall and winter on the weekends as well to help out with our debt. I understand about the car situation. I'm driving a different vehicle this winter as well and I have a 45 mile commute to work one way. I can stay with my mom if the weather gets too bad and that's only 15 minutes from work for me!!

Well good news, there was no problem with the refinancing on my car payment since I didn't borrow any additional funds. That would defeat the purpose of what I am trying to accomplish. So, I will do the paper work on Tuesday and I won't have to make another car payment until December. This gives us a little bit of breathing room and really won't penalize us that much. The payment is also cheaper as well :)
