I have six PDLs that are out. I have allowed these people to debit my account over and over for the interest and now I am swamped with debt. I canceled by account and opened another one and now I want to know what to expect from them when they go to debit the account and it is marked closed. I want to pay them, but I can't keep doing this. I am a single mother of two and this is trying to stress me out even more.

Hi fullycommitted, welcome to the forums. First, take a deep breath- you've come to the right place. Tell us a little bit about your situation; who are your pdls with? Are they internet pdls or storefront? If they've been debiting your account for a while, there's a good chance you've already paid back what you owe them by paying their ridiculous "interest" fees, and there's a chance you may be able to get some of them marked paid in full. As for closing your bank account, that was a good move. Most of the time, it seems that cutting off their access to your funds is the only way you can force them to cooperate with you. How much were the original loan amounts for, and how much have you paid back to each one? That's a good first step to getting this resolved. :-)

These were internet loans, Norway Credit, United Cash Loans, Antilles Venture, M1Y Direct, One click and Pfeesls Cashnet (I don't know who this one is). The amounts are $900, $300 [490], $350 [315],$350 [210], $200 [110], $300 [270]. Amounts paid back are in brackets. These loans started in July and the only one that doesn't take out a biweekly interest fee is Northway Credit. They deduct the entire amount of $900 plus $243 from me biweekly. I am in NC.

It looks like you have paid too much in roll over/interest fees on most of them, all but the $900. What state are you in? You will need to find out what your state legally allows in interest for these pdls, then the rest of the fees you have paid to date need to be subtracted from the principal balance, that is what you would owe on the principal. You need to put a block on them from debiting your account and notify them that you are revoking your authorization allowing their company to debit your account. You also need to file a complaint with your AG's office against each one of them. Then you need to use the template letter on this site inserting your state laws and adding that you filed a formal complaint with your state's AG office against them. These companies are not licensed to lend in most states and I'm willing to bet this is your case as well. You may also consider closing that account and opening a new one if possible, because they have been known to be sneaking and present paper checks or use one of their dba's which haven't been blocked from your account. You have come to the right place for help, stick around and take the advice and you will get through this. If you register as a member I can pm you more info.

Actually, they can't do anything- all payday loans are illegal in North Carolina. They may call and try to use scare tactics to get you to pay more money, but don't listen to them. Payday loans are ILLEGAL in North Carolina, so all you have to do PERIOD is pay back the original loan amount. At this point, I would suggest that when you make the remaining payments, you do it with a money order. Check out the template letters in the Do It Yourself link on the right hand side of the page, and let the PDLs know that they are not allowed to lend to North Carolina residents. Tell them that you will send the remaining payment for the rest of the original loan amount when they agree IN WRITING to mark your account "paid in dull" upon receipt of the last payment.
