My husband and I just got married and we are looking to start a debt free life together. We are pretty young and know that we have time to get debt free. We both went to college that turned out to be not so good and they were very expensive, yet we got nothing out of it. We ended up quitting school because of getting pregnant and having to move to a location that didn't have our school there. We have lots of bills that are past due, creditors calling, collections calling and we just don't know what to do. He is our only source of income. We are about to have our second child and his work isn't always that reliable because of the weather. We just really want to find a way to get rid of our debt so we can live happily.

Hi Dawn...Welcome to the forum! I agree with you, debt is definitely no fun. You've made a step in the right direction by trying to get a handle on things now. Finding this site has been a blessing to me, and I hope you get as much benefit from it as I have so far.

You should be contacted by a debt counselor shortly, and they can discuss your situation and the options available to you. Depending on how much unsecured debt you have (i.e., credit cards, personal loans, etc.) you should be able to get into a consolidation or settlement program, which will get the creditor and collections calls to stop.
