A lot of collection agencies will tell you that the money has to be auto-deducted from your account or wired to them via Western Union or MoneyGram. This simply isn't true.
You might consider contacting your bank and discussing the possibility of trying to block this debit, as you are not authorizing it. You could then contact the collection agency and tell them you're revoking debit authorization and want to mail a money order. Be prepared for them to give you a lot of grief and use intimidation and empty threats. But once you've told them you're revoking debit authorization, if they attempt it after the fact and it goes through, you should be able to get in touch with your bank and inform them that this was an authorized debit and they can pursue the matter with the collection agency and in most cases get your money back.
When you sign up with this site, which you have, you can get a free consultation with a debt counselor. They should be contacting you shortly if you entered all of your information on the registration section. A counselor can help advise you as to some options of dealing with this collection agency so you are not depleting your income to where you can't get by each month.

This was for musical equipment, which was lost due to our home burning appx 2 1/2 years ago -- after property (home) was paid off,we had little to start all over again and things just went from bad to worse and we still struggle every month to make ends meet and try to rebuild our lives again.

Would this be the same as Allen, Lewis and Associates out of Jacksonville, FL. I had a run in with them a year ago and they wouldn't accept anything but an automatic payment from checking account. They were not very easy to deal and I wish I had found this site before I agreed to the plan and letting them deduct from my account.

I had to deal with them for a online payday loan I had. The payday loan would call me everyday all day and send me several emails. They would not get involved with the consolidation program I had going. I was getting so frustrated and ready to get them out of my hair I just agreed to the payments. If I can remember correctly they split it up in two payments for two months. Had I known back then what I know now, I would have never gave them my info. If it makes you feel any better they did deduct only what they were supposed to and the payday loan company did settle for a smaller amount so I know I wasn't gettin over charged.

I also remember the guy from Allen Lewis made it seem like they would take further action if I didn't agree and set this payment up ASAP...tried to scare me a bit. One thing I wish I would have done was ask for debt validation because I never did see anything on paper and I never received a paid in full letter.
