if you get a call from a loan or credit company offering you a loan on the phone or internet. the best way to check is to ask the loan company for an address for their company or for them to fax you a letter with the loan offer on company letterhead. then call the BBB office for that city and ask if they are an area member and ask the BBB for the state bank or lender regulatory agency phone number. Call that state office and just ask if company ####### is licensed in the state as a bank or credit or loan agency because all states

That is good advice. There is a scam where people are offerred a long but they are told to wire the company hundreds of dollars in order to receive it. You should never have to pay money up front in order to receive a personal loan. Big red flag.
