I recieved a call from the law offices of Gerald E. Moore a little while ago. "Rod" told me who he worked for and that he'd been trying to contact me. He then went on to tell me that I owed $1094 on an old Cap. one account and that I was required to pay in full. I told him that I couldn't, but that I would be able to set up a payment plan. He blew that off and offered a settlement of an undisclosed amount if I payed in 2 weeks. I said I didn't think I could come up with enough to satisfy him, then offered a payment plan again. He ignored that and told me that he would begin the litigation process.

HUH? Since when do they not accept payment plans? And I was under the impression that by law at the beginning of the conversation he was to inform me that "this is an attempt to collect a debt". So now I wonder if this is an empty threat. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Confirm yourself by sending a debt validation letter to G E Moore that they have your proper file info. You don't want to end up sending money to the wrong company. If you start paying without any documentation and they are trying to pocket your money, some other company will come later and ask payments on this account. You end up being ripped off by G E Moore.

So, make them validate the debt in writing. Send this letter below through certified mail with return receipt requested. Insert your info into it. After you get their response with all specifics, you will like to move from there.
