Sometimes when it nears the cold season, usually towards the end of Oct., the gas company is required to restore all services by allowing the customer to pay a certain fee for restoration with a payment plan to pay the back the rest on top of the current bill. Sometimes this fee is as low as $175. Also if anybody in your household is disabled or has a medical condition there is a form from the utility company that can be completed by the physician to have services restored this can be completed three times a year and you should make payment plans to take care of the balance. Try going to your local Human Services Dept. (Welfare office) they have a retention program that gives people money to pay for such things, and the income limit is higher than that which is required to qualify for food stamps or Medicaid. You may qualify being that you are separated (have your proof) and have 3 dependants, the lifetime benefit for this program is about $2,000. Try other community social service agencies, such as Salvation Army, local church organizations, etc......I hope this helps.

In OH to qualify for the welfare program the maximum money a household can earn to qualify for this program is just over $2,800 a month. If you make this or less you will qualify for the funds. Contact the local welfare office and request the form, you will also need the bill showing you are disocnnected or the last bill which gives your disconnect notice.

Sorry, this info. keeps coming to me, I believe that the income qualification is the same for all 50 states, it is a federal program. So the qualifications for a family of 4 would be the same in your state, the guidelines are set up by the federal government. Please take advantage of this program by contacting your local welfare office.

Salvation Army is a good place to try. I know this from experience. Also, you can check with a church. Many have a benevolance fund that may be able to help you get back on your feet.
(did I even spell that correctly?)

I would also check and see if you have any type of homeless advocacy group in your town. I know that we have a group like that where I live, and they also help with overdue electric bills, along with rent, etc. Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing!
