I have some outstanding pdls. Some of them are internet that I'm entering into the debt settlement program with Langhorne Law. I have 3 storefront that I can't pay back and I don't want to pay back one to go and reborrow to pay back the other and so on...
I've spoke with the storefronts and offered $100 upfront and asked if I can set up a payment arrangement. Only one of the storefronts agreed, but the other two had the nerve to tell me to go and borrow from another payday loan company so I can pay them their money  I'm not doing that because I want this cycle to end. Basically, these 2 storefronts are refusing payment arrangements. Any suggestions :?: I don't want to go to jail because I read the one post from the girl who said her brother was arrested because a storefront turned his check over to the DA's office.
I'm in Ohio.
Oh, I borrowed $550 from Advance America, so I owe them $632, and I borrowed $500 from Fast Payday Loans, so I owe them $575, well actually $595 because they ACHed my check and it bounced from Ohio to Texas, Ha, Ha, just a joke, but it really did bounce.

I also dealt with Advance America and they would not work out a repayment arrangement. They deposited my check after being told it wouldn't clear, so I owed them a NSF fee on top of the loan. I again offered a repayment arrangement and got no response. Instead, the manager went to my local bank branch as soon as they opened on my next payday and tried cashing the check again and got her money. I was screwed.

Anyway, since the storefront lenders will be licensed in your state, they can get a judgement against you, so it would be best to get them taken care of as soon as you can.

I finally spoke with someone at the collections office for Advance America :D They agreed to let me pay $100 every two weeks on my paydays until it is paid off :D You can definitely believe that I will hold on to the receipts from the payments so later on they can't try to say I still owe them money.

Congrats, Brownsugar! That's a great feeling, isn't it? :D

I think we need to suggest a new Emoticon that has a little party hat and fireworks or something that we can use when people have something to celebrate!

I dealt with Advance America myself - I would never do so again. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all.

How did you get a hold of the collections department, I have an outstanding loan with them for $496, the store front tells me I have till 2/9 to come up with the money, won't have it by then and I know he will be a real jerk about it. How do i get ahold of the collections department before this date. Maybe they will be more cooperative. thanks

forgot this what state are you from? I am in Pa, don't know if that makes a difference or not. Also wanted to let you know to watch the pa department of banking web page for news updates, they filed a suit against this company, could possibly be big refunds in the future, I will monitor it and post it on the site. Just was wondering what state you are from, didn't know if they act according to the state you are in or not. please respond. thanks

fedup--

Actually, I happened to call Advance Americe one day and some lady answered the phone saying that she handles all accounts that are in collections. I don't think she actually works at that location, but I think she was just in the store that day probably following up on accounts that were in collections. BTW, I'm in OH.

fedup - are you also dealing with Advance America, as well as Check N Go Online, as mentioned in your other posts? If so, I can only suggest that you contact Advance America and make payment arrangements with them. It is your only option. They will definitely take you to court. There is no "collections" office for Advance America. You deal with the location itself, and the branch manager until it "goes legal", which means they file paperwork to take you to court, which is served where ever they can locate you - home or work. Once you are served with papers, you are given a court date, and you will have to show up for it, or the judge will enter a default judgement against you in favor of Advance America. That means Advance America can then pursue garnishment of your wages. If you go to the court date, you may be given additional time to pay - at least a little bit - by the judge.

Your best bet is to contact Advance America and try to work something out. They play hardball when it comes to their money, and being a licensed storefront, they have the law on their side if you don't pay.

Suebee--

When I called Advance America, I spoke with a lady that happened to be there that day that deals with accounts in collections, or should I say defaulted accounts. She let me set up a payment arrangement and yes I did take the money to the storefront branch, but it was not the branch manager that let me do this. It was some other lady that collects on defaulted pdls. Believe me, I know the branch manager's voice on the phone, b/c she has pissed me off so many times :x

I had the same thing happen, Brownsugar. But who I was really speaking to was the district manager - not someone in "collections". They say that because they think it will get more action out of you. When they say they are in the office to "follow up on collection/defaulted accounts", they're telling the truth. They are the one that is higher up than the branch manager and can actually make payment arrangements for you. But you won't get the district manager's name out of the branch manager - they won't tell you. The branch manager wants to be the one responsible for bringing the loan to paid in full status, because they get a bonus for doing so. If the district manager does it, the branch manager loses their bonus.

I know the branch manager's mother - used to work with her a few years ago - so it was very strange to have to deal with her on this level. But the one thing I learned from this experience is that even someone who is really nice when you meet them on the street can turn into a raging b---- when they think your defaulted payday loan is going to shrink their monthly bonus. This manager actually told me that she wasn't going to let this go to legal, because she would lose her job, that she had stuck her neck out for me, that I was a liar, had never intended to pay this loan back, that I knew I would be defaulting on it the day I took it out, that I was going to get her in trouble, yadda yadda yadda.

The district manager, on the other hand, actually told me everything the branch manager said was a lie. That she wouldn't lose her job, that it wasn't anywhere near to the point of "going legal", and that the branch manager was wrong to tell me it was.

I actually have all the money to pay this other storefront in full, but the collector for this company has really pissed me off so you know what, if he wants to play games, I can too. I'm friends with this girl that works at the storefront and she told me that as long as I make three equal payments to pay it off, then it makes it harder on the corporate office to collect on the debt as far as getting a judgement in court b/c the judge will see them I'm making an effort in paying it back. Well, this collector called me everyday and threatened to call my job everyday even if they told him not to. So since it was the end of the month and I know he was probably wanting that big commission check, I took one of the three payments in the store. I thought it was so funny, b/c he was threatening me with all this s***, and my friend that works at the store said that he was mad b/c he didn't get his quota for that month. Oh well!! BTW, since the store accepted my payment, and he really can't do much now(according to the girl at the storefront) his dumba$$ doesn't even bother me anymore.

Went into the store front and gave the manager $250 of the $496, he accepted and made a payment arrangement with me, much to my surprise, he was very pleasant. I about fell out! one more payment and they are done.

I walked in and gave the manager $250 on the $496 that I owe them, he accepted it and will give me another month to come up with the balance. I was really surprised at how cooperative they were. I guess it was the dealing with them face to face that made me so nervous. I feel 100 percent better now and more in control. One more company to tackle and I will be done.
