Can not pay debts. What should I do?

I lost my job about a year and a half ago and I can no longer pay off debts with the credit card companies. Should I file bankruptcy or should I try to consolidate my accounts with Debt consolidation firm?

I don't handle credit card debt myself, but there is one person I would recommend above all others. Her ame is Jerri Simpson. Much as Jerri has pushed it, I do NOT have a deal with her for referrals. I just know that if my a$$ was on the line, she is who I would turn to.
