Palisades collection on fraudulently obtained account.

I received a letter from Palisades in regards to an account opened using my address and SS#, but under a business name (of which I have no knowledge) This is the first time I've heard of this account or Palisades.
According to this letter, 'We have received your correspondence requesting verification of your debt...we have ordered additional documentation and will provide you with a copy upon receipt."
Interesting, as I never requested or corresponded with these people - I've put a fraud alert on all 3 credit reporting agencies, and nothing appears on my report as yet.
I've read the information regarding debt validation - one thing that's got me confused is this part - "A statement that if the consumer dispute the validity of the debt within 30 days of receiving the notice, the collector will assume the debt to be valid."
This account is NOT valid, so why would I want a debt validation?
