Problems with Gerald E Moore collections

Hello all, about 5-6 years ago, I got a loan from MBNA bank and then fell onto hard times. They ended up charging off the original amount, which was 1500. Since then, I have gotten a lot of letters from different collection agencies, and since I haven't made much money for the last 3 to 4o years (less than $12000 each year) because of unemployment for about 6 months and then going to college full time, I wasnt able to do anything but ignore the calls and harassments.
Last year, Gerald E Moore and associates filled an arbitration against me, I live in Michigan btw, and being scarred and not knowing what to do, I did nothing. Now they are suing me for the supposed amount of $7200 dollars and I have no idea what to do.
I have read from a lot of sites and forums that this guy isn't legit, but I don't know what to do, please help.
