Hi Everyone,
Tomorrow, my husband is going to be tested for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). As you can imagine, I am not doing very well right now. Thankfully, we have great insurance and if the worst is true and it is ALS, we do have alot of options.
If I could tell the community one thing after all of this, it would be this: we need to DEMAND universal health care in this country. It should not be a luxury, but a basic right to all Americans, rich and poor.
As medical bills are one reason that people go into debt in this country, this needs to be made a priority.
Coming to this site has been a real blessing for me and I hope to continue with you all--so keep the faith for us tomorrow, OK?

Love,

Kathy

Thanks, everyone for your support. What a tremendous group we have here!
And the update: the neurologist said that he is having spinal seizures, which can be indicative of MS along with ALS, great.... :( Anyway, they want to do a MRI of his brain, which he's thrilled about, not! He is also going to sign an advance directive, if I have anything to say about it...I'll keep you posted!

Hi Guys,
So here's the latest and greatest: My husband goes for a MRI of the brain in two weeks and we should know more then--but we have been following the news of the possible connection of ALS to military service with great interest and we have heard that since his service was in nuclear submarines, they would definately want him for any studies, since most subjects they have are from the Army.
Thanks again for all of your support, I really appreciate it and it helps me to hang in there!
