I know that here in the State of TN if a judge orders through civil court for you to pay then you can go to general sessions court and file for a "slow" pay and the creditor has to accept that ruling but I am not sure if that works in your respective state
Is this an already done deal, or are you waiting to go to court?
Is this an already done deal, or are you waiting to go to court? I know sometimes, before court, you can try to set arrangements up and also there is a harship thing in our state you can file. I would call your court clerks office if it is a done deal, and ask them what you need to do to set up payments. I have had clients who set up payments on other things, such as fines, etc., but not judgements.Good Luck...Karen

Most collection agencies don't accept any payment plans. They will offer a cut on the total debt if you are able to pay them 80% of the total amount. You can request for some extensions and see if they can acknowledge. They are directed by the creditors who expect a certain amount minus their collection costs. They handle a lot of files everyday and time invested on each case is kept at the lowest.

You should talk to the agency to see if they are willing to accept an arrangement. They usualy are willing to set up an arrangement provided it is on their terms. You might get lucky and speak to someone who actualy takes pride in helping out others and then you might get a complete jerk.
Before contacting anyone I suggest you sit down with your monthly bills a calander and prepare a budget. Budget in for this bill slightly more than you plan to start as an offer to the company. Setting up payment arrangements doesn't take a lot of neogtiation skills as long as you go in knowing what you can and can not do. Under no circumstances agree to somehting you can't do. Bouncing a check to a collection agency or not making a payment when you agreed upon will be seen as a hostile action on your part which is a refusal to pay. agressive collections will follow.
If no agreements can be met verbally then you need to write in to the company stating your monthly bill total (they don't need to see 50 dollars for phone 300 dollars for groceries) and what you have left to offer tham and still put food on the table and gas in the car so you can go to work and pay the bill off.
