Double garnishment?
Can some one help?

My husband is being garnished for an account that I never received notice on by Ford Credit. The garnished his check based on a commonwealth law in NM. The never notified my of any debt, since my mother had paid it out but Ford Credit says that it is more and that they do not have the account. The lawyer that is handle ling the garnishment for Ford Credit has not provided and has refuse to provide any proof of notification. The funny part by Ford Credit is that I just paid off a second account with them and I was never told anything about that remaining balance. Ford Credit refuses to respond to any of my question and the Lawyer has an address that they said that they notified me and it is an empty lot. How do I stop that garnishment that they are trying to do?

Ok...You need to have some proof of the writ.

Your husband needs to contact payroll and get a copy of it, they really dropped the ball here..Legally, we payroll people have to provide a copy of the WOG within 8 days of receipt. we then have 28 days to file. That mistake wouldn't stop the garnishment, though..

Anyway, once you get a copy of the writ, their will be a docket number on it. contact the court, give them the docket, and they can tell you everything. That's pretty much all you can do at this point. Please let me know how this goes, and if you need any help, please pm me
