Statude of limitation on judgement collection

I have an old judgement which I tried to pay on a while back, but was told I did not owe anything and the account did not exist.
A couple years ago, I had state taxes(in the state
where this debt was) taken out of my pay by mistake.
When I filed my taxes for a refund of this money,
I received a letter back stating that the refund
had went towards this debt. Any suggestions? :?

You have a judgement against you and then you are told you don't owe anything? That does not make any sense at all. Judgements stay with you for 10 years, and then can be renewed another 10 years after that. I think it is in your best interest to check really carefully. Sorry to sound icky, but it just doesn't make sense that someone would go through the court process, secure a judgement, and then forget about it.
