Hello everyone, after reading some hopeful things I signed up with superior debt couple of months ago. I am following their advice and screening my calls and avoiding all call from creditor. Until now I am being called from CITICORP CREDIT. There are two other companies calling with ID ILLINOIS and VERIFACTS which I checked and it looks like these work for collect America or that what these number are. I was wondering that I am hardly two months late my payment and does creditors hire collection companies that fast. Also if anyone has experience with these companies and if the strategy of avoiding calls is reasonable?

Perhaps, it will be good if you call the credit company and let them know about your hiring a settlement company. Each company has its own policies and they will send the file to collections when they don't see any payment activity on your account. The CA is hired by the creditor so you can still make arrangements with the creditor. You'll have to deal with the CA only when the account is sold off.

When is your settlement company forwarding the proposal to your creditor? Did you talk about it?

According to the settlement company, they will send creditors a power of attorney after three months of which two have already passed. In that they will inform them that they will work on my behalf. After reading so many bad things about CA, I am little scared and do not want to talk to them on my own. Thanks for you reply.
