Today was the best day I had in a long time. First PAYDAYOK closed my account, said I have satisfied my obligation to them. And 500FASTCASH settled with me for $150(which is what remains as principle). They actually wanted me to give them my new bank account number, I told them I didn't have a new account.(I do, but they don't need to know that). I told them I was only able to pay by money order and if they wanted their money they have to accept this. So they gladly accepted, and I only have $150 due, and it must be postmarked by DEC. 1st. Which gives me a little time.. I saved all emails and phone numbers I received from these companies just in case. I will also make a copy of my money order to 500fastcash when I pay that off. It feels so good. FINALLY.... Only $150 to go and I am out of PAYDAY HELLL.... It does work to complain to the BBB, FTC, and your state Attorney generls office, and to harass them as bad as they harass us. GOD BLESS EVERYONE ON THIS FORUM. Only one week ago I was drowning and scared, a few short complaints and emails later I have been saved. If it wasn't for the kind people here I don't know what I would have done. THANK YOU EVERYONE< FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.

I can feel your happiness, especially when it comes after so many sad days and in tears. You were strong enough to fight with the companies and make them do what they should be. I am happy that you got the true support from here and handled the situation. Enjoy each moment and celebrate with your family and friends. Go for a long drive, do anything that makes you feel happier. :)

It is amazing how happy this makes you feel. You really feel a big relief. You feel so desperate when you make these loans. But they can really ruin you. I actually feel like eating, and I think I will actually sleep tonight. Also it seems like Christmas is possible now. That was my biggest fear. Not havin Christmas for my 4 year old. I can honestly say I will never do a PDL ever again. I am going to crusade in the state of Michigan to make PDL illegal in this state as well.WOW HUGE RELIEF.

Wow that is awesome. I hope to be in your shoes, only mine is going to take at least a year. But I have great leagal representation that I would have never found if not for this site, and everyone here to lean on and use as armor against the threats and scare tactics. I actually get a giggle out of some of the crap they say instead of breaking out in a cold sweat. Anyways, WAY TO GO VALERIE! Now you can pay it foward by being a source of strength, hope and experience to others in need here

I will definately offer anyhelp I can... I am going to fight for people just like us. I never thought there was people out there like us. But what a blessing to find this forum. I had a friend who used a storefront lender once. She got a loan for only $75 and she had to repay $165. She did it, but that is just crazy. These places need to be stopped.

Congratulations Valerie!!! I got rid of the 3 pdl's I had within 2 two weeks of finding this site, after paying them every payday for months. I've had two paydays since then and it's wonderful to not have $290.00 coming out of my account every two weeks. I also thank God for the help from from some very caring and smart people.

Here is a copy of the letter I am sending to all my state represanatives.

Quote:

Hello Mr. or Mrs.(insert your own state reps here),
My name is Valerie *****. I am a 30 year old stay at home Mom. I am on a crusade to stop Payday loan companies in the state of Michigan, whether they be store front or internet based. These companies are unlawfully doing business and taking advantage of people during time of financial turmoil. I have gotten out of Payday loan trouble by filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, The Federal trade Commsion, and The Michigan Attorney Generals Office. Unfortuntely I am finding so many people that are getting caught up in these scams, with high interest rates of nearly 400%, finance charges, and roll over fees. A small loan of nearly $250 can end up costing a person up to and above $1000. These companies have to be put to a stop in the state of Michigan. We are a great State that has gone through some tough times, financially, with high unemployment rates. Our great citizens deserve better than to be treated like common criminals. In doing my research I have found people getting harrassed all hours of the day when they make a payment late or default on a loan. (Even when the principle balance has well been overpaid). I have found people getting harrassed at their work up to 10 times a day. Getting phone calls at home up to 20 times a day including Sundays. Some of these people are getting threatened with jail time, or told horrible awful harassing things I wish to not repeat, as they are terribly inappropriate. Please (insert state reps), lets join many other states in making payday loans illegal in the state of Michigan.

Hi,
I live in WV just wanted you to know that the West Virginia Attorney General's Office Has Filed Lawsuits against 18 Payday loan companys for charging illegal interest rates. You may want to check with your own state attorney's office, you might not owe anything they might owe you!
Here is the list.

ATTORNEY GENERAL DARRELL McGRAW REACHES SETTLEMENT AGREEMENTS WITH 18 INTERNET PAYDAY LENDERS AND SUES 14 INTERNET PAYDAY LENDERS TO ENFORCE INVESTIGATIVE SUBPOENAS AND TO ENJOIN USURIOUS LENDING ACTIVITIES

Attorney General McGraw filed suit today in the Circuit Court of Kanawha County, Charleston, West Virginia, to enforce investigative subpoenas against 14 Internet payday lenders and to enjoin their usurious lending activities in West Virginia. McGraw also announced that his office has reached formal settlement agreements with 18 other Internet payday lenders in which they promised to permanently discontinue their payday loans here and to refund all unlawful fees and charges collected from West Virginia consumers. The latter agreement will result in tens of thousands of refunds and canceled debts for hundreds of West Virginia consumers.

The 14 Internet lenders sued by McGraw today made ???????payday loans??????? to consumers in their homes via interactive web sites and have claimed that states, including West Virginia, cannot regulate their lending activities. ???????Payday loans??????? are short-term loans or cash advances, typically for 14 days, secured by a postdated check or by an agreement authorizing an electronic debit for the full loan amount plus interest from the consumer????????s account.

The companies McGraw sued deposit the loans electronically into consumers???????? accounts and require payment of interest with Annual Percent Rates (???????apr???????) ranging from 600 to 800 APR, more than 44 times greater than the maximum allowable rate (18 APR) for consumer loans in West Virginia.
