You should have taken the "paid in full" or "paid as agreed" after the account was cleared. This way, the remaining balance that was settled earlier would not have been sold to Calvary. Anyways, can you call the CA now and get the PIF letter? You will have some valid reasons to put in front of Calvary and they will be out of luck as they don't have proof. Right now they will stand over you because you are lacking proof. Something similar is discussed here
