I am so glad I found this site! I just lost my job on 11/9. Man o man - $1900 for 3 different pdls. That is only the amount borrowed. This really sucks. I live in Wichita Falls, TX. I went CCCS (Consumer credit counseling Service) They were informative but I do not qualify for their services because my debt does not exceed the amount "required" (Funny isn't it) What they did say is that I need to make a decesion to STOP THE CYCLE. The lessor of 2 evils. From what I read on this site, it is pretty close to what has been going through my thoughts. I did think about changing my checking account to a different bank all together. CCCS made a comment about going to DA's office to find out how they handle these types of situations. I have not called any of the loan offices yet, my payment is not due until the 16th. Has anyone been taken to court over this for closing their account? I don't suppose that anyone has been able to make some sort of payment arrangements with these people, have they? I much rather deal with the company than worry about how I am going to pay the outragous interest and not have any money at all. Anyone have any suggestions or feed back? I would appreciate it.

You need to be careful from the storefront lenders. They usually follow the state laws and can take you to the court and get a judgment against you.

Your best move is to contact the lenders and explain what's going on with you. Tell them that you have just been laid off from your job and are going through rough times. You need to assure them that you are not avoiding their debts, but will be happy if some arrangements can be done for you. You have to put yourself in front of them so that they understand your case and arrange something.

Not calling the storefront lenders can put you at risk, especially when the due date is falling. Give a call, I hope you hear something good from them.

Aside, you can check the business of the storefront lender with your attorney general and the dept. of financial institution. You will know if they are complying with your state laws.
