I sent CASHTODAYLIMITED a settlement letter on 11/08/06, I live in NC. I paid them $200.00 for a $200.00 loan, and now they just called me wanting $200.00 more to mark the acct. PIF...Please help me.......

Stand your ground! They are going to try and shake you down in the beginning to get the money. Get your complaints to your AGs office in ASAP. And if they call you back tell them tough, and that they will be contacted by the AGs office soon, and don't listen to them when they say that you have to abide by their laws, this is a lie. You will be fine. Just remember they are a faceless voice hiding behind the phone lines and can do anything other than annoy you on the phone.

The guy that called actually left a message on my cell, demanding that I call back. He said his name was Matt?? I called back and told him that I had emailed them 2 settlement letters and that they were supposed to contact me by mail or email. He said that they didn't have to respond to my settlement letter, and that my balance was $1480.00, on a $200.00 loan. I have already paid them the required amount for my state (NC, which they are illegal here, right??). So, do I need to pay them more??

I am dealing with Interim Cash, which from what I understand, is affiliated with this company. They are not licensed in your state, and as Steelers1 said, regardless of what they say, they DO have to go by the laws of your state. I received weekly e-mails for about a month from them, demanding full payment (meaning they also wanted their rollover fees, interest, etc.). Rather than start a new e-mail, I just sent a reply with the e-mail they sent, again putting in the template PDL letter (is that the one you used - from Pollyandsay's blog?). The next e-mail I received was a couple weeks later. They haven't settled with me yet. They told me to call them and see what arrangements we can work out. (I forgot to tell you that, Steelers1). Anyway, you've already paid the principal. That's all you owe them! Don't send them another dime. Do as Steelers1 says and STAND YOUR GROUND. They'll come around.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! They can't do anything to you, they are unlicensed and conducting business with a consumer from NC where pdls are ILLEGAL. Let Matt know he won't get another penny from you and that you have notified your AGs office regarding their business. And I highly doubt an unlicensed business is even going to try and take you to court they are operating illegally and many states will tell you that it is the lender in this instance that would be arrested when they step foot in the courtroom. They will have to respond to the AG whether Matt knows this or not, he is probably an underpaid CR.

I am kinda scared because all they seem to say is "FRAUD", and that just rings in my head. I sent the letter on 11/08 and just sent another today. Should I just keep replying with the same template letter, and just change the date to the date that I get their email?? Did you have a $200 loan also?? If I am correct, pdl's are illegal in NC anyway, right??

Natdust20, that is a famous illegal threat they use on everybody. They can NOT, and I repeat NOT, charge you with anything. They are banking on getting more money out of you by putting fear into you don't let it scare you, I know it's hard to do, but trust us. They are illegal, you are NOT going to jail, NO fraud charges will be filed. He is a LIAR. What he is doing is called extortion. I am going to post an article, you can paste it to an e-mail to these clowns so that they can see the government will prosecute them for this collection technique.

Like I said in a previous post, these people called me on Thanksgiving Day last year and will stop at nothing. And when they throw the fraud word at you, I would suggest telling them to look in the mirror--it's like the pot calling the kettle black! I stand with Steelers and DBaker on this one. You have paid your principle back in full and do NOT owe them another dime! And do what I did, which is call the police in your hometown!

Good Luck!
