I just received a notice of collection from Holiday also. When I contacted Asset Acceptance LLC could not even tell me who what this company was, where to contact them, or even a date or time of the legitimacy of this debt. I tried to google the Holiday Spa of California but nothing has come up. I any one can help me please do. I am going to contact the police department about fraud. They said the best way to handle this it to just pay it. I thought this was america and solid credit report bureau system we had. Bull!!

I got a debt collection notice from Asset Acceptance, re: Holiday Spa of California.

First of all, a friend and I did a 3 month membership with them in 1992, at the end of 3 months we told them that we were not going to renew and never heard from them again (I called her this a.m. to verify my memory and she agreed I was right).

Secondly, Holiday went out of business about 14-15 years ago and my sister had a lifetime membership that became void and couldn't get back any of the several thousand dollars that she & her husband had paid for each of their memberships.

Thirdly, in California (and possibly other states as well) there are laws with regards to the length of time that there has been no communications between you and a 'so called' debt holder - thus making any 'so called' debt null and void.

Asset told me they would give me a discount of about $400 off if I'd go ahead and pay it now, even tho' I told them I owed nothing. Am following up with a letter to cover myself.

There must be someone out there in the world that can shed some light on this subject!!! I almost paid this "DEBT' to asset acceptance llc!! As I was talking to the agency on the phone, I googled theHoliday Spa of Ca. and came across this page, I immediately told them to cancel the transaction and stop the payment from my credit card! Please if someone has had this happen before, how did you take care of the issue.

I would file complaints with the AG, FTC and BBB.

NEVER, EVER give payment over the phone....the first thing you must do is tell them to send it in writing and then send them a DV letter...check your CR to make sure they are not reporting on you...if they are dispute it immediately.

Sounds like a scam, guys...beware.

Just got a call from sourcing LLC with the same as all the above. I never lived at the address they gave, the date when "I signed up for member ship was in 1990" (I was in Desert Storm at the time and not even in the United States). She said she wanted my ssn, I told her I would never give that out. So What is up with this?

I got a letter about a Ballys account more then 20 years old from 1988 just a few weeks ago in September of 2009. The company is Assetcare INC. I smeared human excrement on the payment form with a detailed message of what it was and mailed it to them. If cost me a stamp to to it but it was worth it.

I also recieved a notice for this debt to Holiday Spa of California in which I had never joined or even heard of until I got on Google. I just called the collection agency and they said that they will send a request to the company now owned by by Bally's to validate the debt. This was a membership that I "supposedly" signed up for in 1994. WHEN I WAS PREGNANT! they also noted that any debt past 7 years is not "legally" collectible. It takes 3-4 weeks for verification to come back to the debt collector. So we will see how this plays out.

ya it rings a bell... a bell that I never was a member of Holiday Spa so whether they were bought out by Bally's or not makes no difference...this is a scam and I doubt all these people would be blogging on here if it wasn't DEBT COLLECTOR

My fianc??e was just attacked by this company, I then did some quick research and this is what I have discovered.
http://www.bcsalliance.com/y_debt_sol.html
Check the site out, they have lots of information available. To sum it up though, basically do not validate the debt in any way, do not tell them you will pay it, and most importantly do not send them a payment. By doing any of these acts the statute of limitation *could* start running again and they can take legal action. Their article on scavenger debt collectors also says that they usually will not take legal action against you unless you have assets they can seize.
Hope this helps, thanks to whoever started the thread as I was looking for any information possible on these guys.

Everyone complains that the economy is so bad....let me tell you what...all of you trying to get out of your bill by not paying and suing bill collectors are nothing but a contrubution to this economy. Us debt collectors are trying to fix it. So quit complaining abt a contract YOU SIGNED years ago and pay what you owe. Just because a bill is OLD doesn't mean the bill's not OWED.
