OK, now that I have cleaned up all the PDL issues.. what has everyone found to be the best way to handle cc that are behind?

I, myself, was in a dmp for a month, didn't like the service. I called my 3 cc companies and asked if they would accept my payments direct from me. Keep in mind, that 2 of them are chargeoffs and the other is delinquent (but on my credit report) it shows current. I haven't paid them in like a year. One of my payments is as low as $15 mth. What cc comanies are you dealing with?

Well, they combine all of your payments into one. Then most of them charge a one time fee ranging from $35-$40 for the setup of your aggreement. Then after that you have have to choice to pay them contributions for working with your creditors. Mine was a little outrageous, and had posts on here, that is why I cancelled. If you can afford to make a small payment each month, I would NOT go with a dmp..

The best thing is to try and make the payments on your own to the credit companies. Most will be willing to work with you because they need their money back.

In some cases, they will act rude and threaten sending your account to collections if you don't pay the full amount. Don't be puzzled hearing something like this. Your willingness to pay the debt is most important even if they pursue actions against you. Your intentions should clearly explain that you want to pay the debts.

If you can manage to do this negotiation on your own, very good. Otherwise, take professional help. They will do the same thing for you because they know how to handle such negotiations. You need to research about the company before signing because you will trust them with your money.
