I recieved a collection notice from Universal Fidelity LP, who is collecting on a debt owed to Sonic(Cash Transfer Center). On the notice it has the license #, which allows them to collect in my state. So I decide to do a little research. According to the state website the company was under Regulatory Adminstrative Action. After seeing that, I called the state regulators and according to them Univeral Fidelity's registration is inactive. Why, they did not paid the licensing fees for my state. I am wondering what I should do. Did I mention payday lending is illegal in my state. This should be fun..
I am wondering what my response to Universal Fidelity should be... Any suggestions

bdouble, I would inform them that payday lending is illegal in my state. Also tell them you have filed complaints with AG in your state. I would file a complaint against them also. Keep us posted. KYSIDE38

I received a letter and numerous phone calls from them. I called them back to settle and got hung up on 3 out of the 5 times. The other 2 transferred me to the people who hung up on me. The worst people I never spoke to. I guess it is time to call a lawyer.

After getting hung up on by several employees who didn't have supervisors working because they had gone home, I got a person who only delt with the Spanish accounts. I asked him was it because I spoke English that I couldn't get a supervisor to talk to me and he transfered me to another department head, who again hung up on me, but I had gotten her name first. I called back 8 times and got the general voice mail box. So, I left a message that I would contact the State AG for both Ca. and Tx. and the BBB. When I called back the 9th time, I got through and the person on the phone didn't even have to ask who I was, because they link the phone number from the phone you are calling from and have your account on the screen as they get the call in the call center. I got the same superviosr after I complained that she had hung up on me and this time she answered the phone using Ms. --------------, and I asked her if her first name was -------- and she said yes. I told her she had hung up on me and she said she didn't. I explained that she put me on hold while I was speaking and their phone system hangs up after 5 minutes. I was then transfered to her supervisor. I explained the problem I had with all of the the employees and what I had asked for in the first place to get cleared up. She gave me her direct number and ext. stating they would send me a letter that the account was cleared once the payment clears.
That will remain to be seen, because Chase Bank is having a
problem processing the online payments from the website they give in their letters for online payments. I told them I will be calling them, since they sent me the Return Check Notice the first time when they didn't even present the e-check for payment to my bank. My bank said they never got a request for fund transfer for this company and there wasn't any problems at their end.

When I called them, and said that the check hadn't been presented to my bank yet, they said "Well, your bank will process the large dollar amounts first then the smaller ones.
So, if you have a check for $***.** amount, they will process that first. Well, guess what, that amount she just pulled out of thin air, ha, was my recent credit card payment amount to the penny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, don't worry, they don't "store" your checking account information. They just have everything else they need right there on the computer screen.

Good day. I have tried on several occassion to contact someone by telephone but I keep getting transferred and hung up on.
I had a account with Bradford Exchange and Ardliegh Elliott and working to pay them off. They was turned over to your company for collection.
I show that I paid this account off with a money order to you on Novebemr 14, 2008. The company tells me that they have not received anything from you and this account is still outstanding and hurting my credit report. Are there anyway someone can look into this and let me know right away?
Thank you very much.

I too have been dealing with UFLP since 2006. I recently started looking into it again. I called UFLP's 800 number and it refers me to 1015158000 number. After googling it, I find that this is a scam. I'm wondering if this whole settlement pay off that we did with them back in 2006 was a complete scam. I think it is time I too get a lawyer. Does anyone no if there has been any kind of class action against them? What to do now?

I received a call from these scumbag collectors on a credit card balance. I asked them to send me something in writing to verify that they were legitimate, and the ass on the other end said they have made several attempts at contacting me thru the mail to no avail. I informed him that I had not seen anything and I was willing to settle the dept, but first needed something in writing. Again he became very rude and said he wasn't going to waste his time sending me anything in writing, and he would just turn this over to their legal department. Again I informed him that I was willing to settle the account but all I wanted was a statement saying what was owed and to who it was owed. After hanging up on me, and me calling back three times he would only keep saying he wasn't going to send me anything. I told him that he was rude and unwilling to work with me. He contacted my wife and she set up a payment schedule and they continue to call me.

I received a phone call one day on my cell phone from a number I didn't recognize. The person who called left a message asking me to return the call within 24 hours otherwise legal action would be taken. I called the number and was told that they were a collections agency ,Universl Fidelity, collecting on behalf of a payday loan company. The payday loan was paid off, but i didnt have a "payoff letter", just bank statements showing the set up payments had been withdrawnso they told me I still owe $400, but they can settle for $320 to be made in two payments. They were supposed to send me an e-mail verifying the amounts and dates for payments and i never received it. I have called back twice and they verify my e-mail and say it's sent. I told them I was not making the payments w/o the e-mail and they told me that if I dont make payments then they can garnish my wages and add interest. Texas is a non garnishment state except for student loans and child support I thought? Any suggestions?

My wife got way behind with Discover, they sold the debt to this company, their Global Integreity division. We have called them repeatedly and they never answer. All we got was the one letter. She did get a voicemail and she left 3 messages and they won't even call her back. When we tried to log in to their website with the code numbers and things they gave us on the letter, it doesn't even work. I think these douche bags have no clue what they are doing, they might have even lost her in their files since her account numbers and such won't work on their website. They don't call and haven't sent anymore letters. We've called Discover offering to pay them, but they just tell us to call these guys cause they sold the debt to them. Oh well, I guess they can just forget it, because after what I've read on here. I'm not letting her pay them a dime because we can't trust them. If Discover wants to somehow buy it back, I'll deal with them and get it paid. Otherwise, they'll literally have to win a garnishment award to get any money.
