Okay so Mr. Odom calls again, says that because they got my last payment returned that that was the same as issuing a bad check across state lines.

What the heck? I do not appreciate this crazy harassment. I already told some Tim person that I would make any payment other than my checking account. They accept credit card payments but truth be told I do not want to do that either! How is insufficeint funds "issuing a bad check across state lines"??? What are they talking about?

Had they paid attention to my fax and NOT debited the checking accoutn then they would have known that I needed alternate payment arrangements.

Okay I know payday loans are not authorized in my state of MD. So that means there is no way Cashnet is liscenced here right?? So if the loan was illegal I just have to pay the principle amount right?

I called him back but could not reach him. Ugh. Where do I go from here, I am not paying them back almost $200 more than I originally received, that is just unfair!?

Have they already taken the 200.00 from your account? If so, anything over that and any processing fees you should recieve a refund from the company. I took peoples advice on this board to do up a letter informing them that the loans are illegal in Md and that they have been debiting my account entirely too long and that if they did not mark as paid in full and refund my money that i would contact my AG and allow them to take care of matters for me. Within in 12 hours i had an email sating we were paid in full and a refund would be given. NO PDLS are legal in Md

You are right, the loan is illegal. Technically, since the loan is illegal, you don't have to pay back anything. Morally, you should pay back the principle. I would call your ag's office and complain to them. Also check out your state's requlatory board for banking. They might have some means of helping you.

It is not illegal to defualt on a loan, and Mr Odom is full of crap. He tried to tell me the same stuff. He is crazy. When I told him I was filing for bankruptcy and had hired a lawyer he told me that they would show up in court and tell the judge I was just trying to scam my way out of paying my bills. Seriously, this company needs to be stopped. My state just opened an investigation of them, so hopfully that will happen.

I am not paid in full with them, I have paid them $105 on a $350 loan according to my records. So I owe them $245, which is FINE, but they are not going to get the money any way but a way that they no longer have my personal information. Credit card/debit card included. That means by money order or money gram or Western Union,I don't trust them with my credit card #, what would stop them from waiting a few weeks and then trying to debit it again!?

Don't fall for that crap about not accepting money orders. All pdl companies say they can only accept payments by credit/debit card, ACH via your checking/savings acct., or Western Union/Money Gram. Send them a money order, I guarantee they'll cash it! Also, have you thought about closing your acct. and reopening a new one so Cashnet can't keep debiting? Or at least speak to your bank to see if they can block the debit from this company? I know they go by a few different names, so you'd have to cover your bases namewise, so they can't pull a fast one.

I just sent my first letters to Cash Transfer Centers. I also filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office. We'll see what happens...
