Mann Bracken- Who are they?
Date: Wed, 11/22/2006 - 11:58
I have received letters from Mann Bracken, LLC too back in July. I requested debt validation and they sent me copies of my credit card statements, basic account info, and also a notice about arbritration. There is nothing that says they own the debt or have been assigned the debt. Can this company sue me? I am in CA. I should have given this matter closer attention back in July but I foolishly just forgot about it. Now, I want to take care of it before it gets out of hand.
The orginal creditor, Chase Bank is on my credit report and who I think still owns the debt. I want to settle this account. My question is- Should I make payment arrangements with Chase or Mann Bracken. I want to make sure my money is going to the right place. What should I have in writing before sending any money? Thanks.

You still have a chance to work out something with Chase because
You still have a chance to work out something with Chase because the debt is not sold. They can take your payments and you won't need to deal with the CA. If they hired Mann Bracken for collection, the file will be pulled from the CA after receiving your money.
In case, you can't work out anything with Chase, get everything in writing with the CA about your posting the payments and updating the credit company. You should also have a 'paid in full' letter after the account is paid off. Keep everything documented for your proof.
