I have got some debt, about $2500 or so, which isn't alot compared to some, but enough to stress me out. I got my first credit card when I was still in high school, and now that I am 19 and living on my own, I got more credit cards, and started spending more money than what I had. Spending the most around the time I moved out and needed things. Credit cards aren't the only problem... but I won't get into too much detail. To make a long story short, I'M STRESSED AND IN DEBT!!!

Please Help?

Well, the minimums on $2500 are probably about $200/month. The main thing is that you should not just "stop" paying if you get into a bind; that will only make a bad problem worse and will affect your credit.

You might try calling the cards and explain you are having problems and want to keep the account from becoming delinquent. Sometimes they have an in-house payment plan; I've seen them reduce the rate and give you a set payment for a number of months that will get your balance down enough to handle it.

Also, don't take on new debt to take care of the old debt. That will only put you further in the hole.

Talk to the counselor that calls you; they can assess your balances and income and lead you down the right path.

Just like Rach said 2500.00 is not bad and a counselor will be able to help you. Also something to consider if you get a tax refund pay them off if you can. This will also help your credit greatly. If you get a tax refund keep up the payments until you can pay off. Just a suggestion the counselors know a whole lot more than me. KYSIDE38

$2500 may not be a very big amount for the credit card company. They can do some adjustments in your case. Just call them and explain that you are going through some financial problems and cannot be able to pay the full amount. Do some advance payment to your account so that they do the adjustments quickly.
