cash back from a unsecured credit card

Are you talking about getting an advance on the credit card? I know that some cc have counter checks, but if this is an unsecured cc that you have to rebuild credit I know that you have to wait a certain amount of time before you can get a cash advance.

I have unsecured credit cards and I'm able to walk into any bank and ask for a cash advance. You do not have to use a pin # like you would for withdrawing at an ATM machine. Just give the teller your credit card and picture ID, and she'll do the rest. Be careful though, b/c cash advances from credit cards usually charge a high amount of finance charges. One of mine charges $20 for the advance and then another outrageous finance fee. Like Steelers had said, if you are re-establishing credit, I believe there is a waiting period before you can do this. Check with the company you have your credit cards with.

Why would you do this? If you are working on repaying debt, do not, under any circumstances, incur more debt! If you cannot buy a car now, take the bus, carpool, etc. until you can afford a car.
