URS should have records to prove that the check was returned. Make them aware that your bank was not able to track anything from URS. In that case, you can show a charge of false representation of the account with threats against this company.

You'll be able to use those charges in your defense if interested in suing the company. Threats are illegal in collections. You should have a recorded proof of the threats.
