Perhaps, you are in dire need of a debt management program, talk about your situation with the consultant very clearly. This website has referred someone in your area.

Bankruptcy also needs to undergo credit counseling for the first few months. The new laws in the last year have changed the system. You have to qualify in the means test before the debts are filed under bankruptcy. Are you getting creditor calls? Have you started the negotiations?

are all the bills ur talking about medical bills? if so most times when and if theyre turned into collections which im assuming they are usually interest isnt added on like cc bills.in most cases medical providers take much smaller payments then ccs.u could try sending in small payments on each every month.id also check and see if alot of them are with same collections company and if so call and ask if they can send an itemized bill of every charge every month instead ofan individual bill for every one..it will be much easier then writing 10 checks every month.in my own experience medical collections will except almost any payment u send as long as u do it every month and not just whenever u feel like it.. good luck!!

Welcome to the Forums :D I had been paying medical bills for about 12 years straight, off and on. If you call them and try to work out a comfortable payment plan, they usually will work with you. If they think you are trying to dodge the bills, they get nasty.Talk with the credit counselor and see what options they have also. Good Luck..Karen
