hematoidin (he????ma????toid????in) (he-m?????-toid????in) a yellow-brown or red pigment, apparently chemically identical with bilirubin but with a different site of origin, formed locally in the tissues from hemoglobin, particularly under conditions of reduced oxygen tension.
