Just thought it would be cool and fun to see what's on everybody's christmas list this year.

This year I'm hoping Santa brings me a new DVD player or a new cookware set.

Quote:
And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.
~ Dr. Seuss

I don't think there's going to be much of anything under the tree for me this year - can't afford to give the kids money to shop for me, and, being a single parent, they're the only ones to shop for me. I'll be doing well just to have Christmas for the kids this year. Having them here is the best gift of all, though - especially my older son, who moved back home from his dad's in another state after almost 3 years away, with only short visits every 6 months or so. It's also my first Christmas without my daughter, who moved out of state this year after turning 18. I'm trying very hard to focus on the "good" in my life right now, and not let the hard times get me down. I know the meaning of Christmas, so that's what I'm celebrating.

I have enjoyed making Christmas nice for someone else, though, as our company has adopted 3 large families for Christmas, and I've been shopping for them for a couple of weeks now with money donated by our workers. It's heartwarming to know these people will have a good Christmas because of the generosity of our company.

Pinklady--
I need a new cookware set also. I really like T-Fal and my daughter knows that. She keeps telling me that she's gonna get me something that I really want, but she also said she's hopes in goes on sale soon.

For the new year coming, I hope to be totally out of this pdl mess and debt free :D

I really can't think of anything that I want this year. The last few have been doing without! Thank God, this year will be different. I've been where SueBee is for a while. I,too, try to count my blessings and be gratefull for what I do have. I have a distant cousin who is mentally ill, won't accecp or get help, I've tried with no luck. He lives in a shack with no water, no utilities, furniture, food, etc. So I'm pretty blessed! I just want out of debt completely as I can, there will always be something, but I want old debts cleared up and have almost done that. Oh, yeah, and all our troops to come home soon and be safe...KAren

T'was the Night Before Christmas and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring not even JediJeff!
Finsfan hung the stockings by the chimney with care
In hopes that the Miami Dolphins would soon be there.
Steelers and Brownsugar were snug in their beds
With visions of PDL's going down dancing in their heads
PollyandSay in her kerchief and Vikas in his cap
Had just settled down for their long winter's nap
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
That everyone sprang from their beds to see what was the matter!
OK, DCC...who wants to finish this!

OK, printed out the rest of the poem, so here goes:

Away to the window Mikey flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters, threw open the sash
The moon on the **** of the new-fallen snow,
Gave the lustre of mid-day to the Cease and Desist Letters below.
When what to SuebeeHoney's wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
DBaker knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled and shouted and said: "Who'd you think it was, Sonny from Bass and Associates?"
So up to the housetop the coursers they flew, with a sleigh full of DCC goodies--and St. Nickolas too.

And then in a twinkling, Jessi hear on the roof,
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As Ari drew in her hand and was turning around, down the chimney he came with a bound.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings with PIF letters, then turned with a jerk.
And after he munched Christmas cookies with Jessi and Bossy, up the chimney he rose!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle
and away they all flew like Cash Today Limited from the cops.
But we heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight:
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all, PDL freedom in 2007!""

And they're are still good people in this world and especially on this forum. Look what everybody did pulling together for TX. Merry Christmas. KYSIDE38

KSCornell, as my kids would say, you ARE the writer (usually they would say man, not writer-LOL). That poem was absolutely fantastic. What an imagination you have! I'm impressed!

Suebeehoney, I'll be joining you this year. I also am a single mom. I have older children, but it's going to be a slim Christmas for all of us. My daughter just had a house built, so they'll have a hard time just getting for my granddaughter this year. My son just bought a business and is paying on it until June. But I was talking to my sister the other night, and what she said is so true. She said she used to like getting and giving gifts but, with different events that have happened in her life, what she really looks forward to is being able to get together with family and friends and just enjoy each other's company.

My gosh, what is WITH me this year? I am so nostalgic! Kyside, you said you're getting old. Is this a sign? LOL - JK

dbaker - so many of us are in that boat this year. I just finished the shopping for the Adopt a Family program we're doing at work - three families were adopted, and they all asked for cleaning supplies. I am not in great shape financially, but I can usually buy my own cleaning supplies - so my situation is made much less depressing by knowing we are providing such a basic need for 3 separate families this Christmas. I bought large laundry baskets for each family, and filled them with cleaning supplies of every sort - pine cleaner, laundry soap, bleach, softener, window cleaner, toilet cleaner, cleanser, cleaning cloths, spray cleaners, etc. Also about $20 worth of personal care supplies (shampoo, soap, etc.) for another family. At the very least, they will have things they need to clean house and such. Those things can't be purchased with food stamps, and if that's the situation they're in, they most likely don't have the money for these items.

I think I have my Christmas miracle early this year. My mom's birthday is on Christmas and I will spend the day at her house. She came out of her cancer surgery better than expected. She might not need Chemo after all. Her biopsy came back negative so they think they got the rest of the cancer during the surgery. We almost lost her in October so I am truly blessed this year. The most important gift for me this year is spending the Holidays with my family and loved ones.

Thanks Michele! Love you girlie!1 I know what you mean about your dad, mine died 25 years ago at the age of 50, and I still miss him, Christmas was his favorite time. My mom, hubby, kids and brother are all I have left on both sides of family, other that 3 distant cousins. Lost all the rest in about a 5-6 year time span. So family is really special!!..Karen

This will be our first Christmas without my father-in-law so my hubby has been struggling through this Holiday season. Thanksgiving was very tough on him. He has seen the miracle that has happened with my mom and he is so grateful for this. He's her favorite son-in-law :-) We're going over to Mom's this weekend to celebrate my Birthday. This is very important to her and she's going to make my favorite B-day cake :-) I do the same on her B-day which is actually Christmas Day. Plus, I also have the love of my community family which is also a blessing.

Mishele, I didn't realize your mom's BD is on Christmas. That makes it that much more special. Enjoy your day with the family.

Fins, It's hard, especially the first few years without your dad. I can finally enjoy the holidays with the rest of my family, but I always think back to Christmases when our whole family was together.

Karen, my dad has been gone 17 years this January (he died at 59), and I still miss him, too. I don't think you ever really stop.

KS, I like that version MUCH better! Jessi, do you remember where you bought the rocking reindeer? That sounds so cute!

Dbaker--I bought the reindeer at Meijer.

It's weird how Christmas can be such a happy time and such a sad time at the same time. My gramma passed away on Christmas Eve, and I have a tough time every year since then. Even that day I was happy and sad at the same time.

I'm grateful for all of you though. :) This year has been the best in a long time. :) Love you guys!

Well it is Hanukkah for us.. And I should feel grateful we got a nice bonus at work so I can a least take care of the over draft before my account closes Friday..
This is the first year I am sticking to my guns and not buying more gifts for my son to make up for his father not.. Not to mention my son is not a kid anymore and I am done with guilt???????
I am just counting the days until the 21st (last day before the 12 day shut down..) no work lazy days.. I just always get sad at this time of year.. cant talk to me between Thanksgiving and New Years.. all my family is either moved or gone. My son and I are the only ones left in CA. BUT I had them all here last weekend for a weekend trip to Disneyland. ( my mom paid for me) so I could go.. sometimes I really feel like a loser but I am getting financially healthy what ever it takes???????
Happy Holidays to all..
