I was contacted by the First Credit of America. Spoke to a person named "Teef" and was told that it was a serious matter and there was a possiblility of judgement being warranted against me for this 323 dollars debt. I do not recall this debt being owed to anyone else. When I asked if they can send me a proof of the alleged debt and debt validation letter by mail, they refused. Teef stated "We can not afford to send out any letters".

What should I do? Should I be worried about this "judgment" coming against me? Or is it one of their scare tactics?

This is a scare tactic from them. Immediately send them a debt validation letter certified mail with return receipt. Then file a complaint against them with the Illinois AG office. This company is on the lowest part of the pond scum collection agencies. They will lie and deceive. They have to legally send you a letter within 5 days of the inital phone call. You will never see one. I had to bring in the sheriffs department when I dealt with them and once the officer heard aka John Smith make his threats, a police report was filed and I filed a complaint with the Illinois AG and included the tape recorded conversation and a copy of the police report.

Thank you Tammy!

I called them back to inquire about debt validation letter. They claimed they sent one once to my home address (I can not recall receiving one). Then they said once they sent out the debt validation letter, they are by federal law not required to send out another one. Is that true?
