Can they charge an intrest fee on a 7 year old phone bill?

quite they will say intrest but it is a fee that a lot of ca's add so that they can make a little extra money for their trouble. have you tried asking for a settlment offer?

No maam.They only will call int he noonish hours when my husband is not at home and will not discus the matter with me. They did however send a statment to our address explaining the amounts owed.I sent a payment of $55.00 and was going to send that amount weekly but they never sent me a reciept,only a letter saying he still owes the same amount.The check was cashed but does not show paid twards the account.

you need to know in writing where you start so that nothing changes and after you have pd the amount owed you will have documentation proving you are done. request a recpt, and let them know you will not send anything else without it being in writing

have your husband call and request a settlment

Here in Arkansas the law states that we only have to pay the amount owed($458.93)is this true?Is this a lump some agreement/settlement type payoff?

Depending on the age of the debt, they are usually allowed to settle and account anywhere from 75% to 50%
usually they want it all at once but some companies will allow you to break it up into two paymnts some within 7 days of one another others within 30. Just know that where there is a will there is a way and if you know your stuff you can get a lot done. do you want me to call the company to see if they offer settlments?

She is looking into his account and she says she mailed you a settlment letter in 2006.

She says they will settle for 585.00 which is nothing. I say you stop sending payments and let them know that you will pay 300.00 or 400.00 i know they will take it. Maybe not at first, but i know.
