Okay folks here it is in a nutshell. In 1998 I went on Social Security Disability. Everyone thought I would be on it for the rest of my life. I had two student loans discharged because of my disability in 2000. Anyhow the past two years I have taken a proactive approach to my life, obtained employment and have maintained a healthy lifestyle and outlook for 18 months. I went off disability this past June and decided I wanted to go back to school come spring to become a systems analyst. I can write my own ticket with this education. I am tired os struggling at 412.50 an hour and working two jobs to make ends meet. Anyhow TSAC wants me to get a form signed by my doctor saying that I am okay to go back to school and get loans. Well I went to him today and he refused to sign unless I went back to see a speci alist. he was stating that my disease can come back without notice. I believe I was misdiagnosed but the so called professional thinks otherwise. I am ready to just throw in the towel and accept the fact that at almost 40 my life is set and I will struggle financially until they throw the dirt on me. I just don't know what else to do to stay proactive with this part of my life. Any suggestions?

Ashley - I don't know what your diagnosis was/is, but NEVER take one opinion. Remember - doc's are only human and go only as far as the scope of their education allows. Some will go above and beyond the call of duty some only do what is the bare minimum. If you feel you were misdiagnosed, if there is an organization associated with you disability, CALL them and ask them how is the top doc thatthey recommend in your area, make an appointment with him and see what transpires from there. Good Luck.

I had major back surgey Dec of last year and now also am on insulin pump. My doctor wants me to go on diability but I have fought it. My advice is you know your body better than anyone are you phsically able to work? Best Wishes KYSIDE38

Oh yeah I have worked for almost 2 years now and everyone who knows me comments on how I have changed so much. I can see it in myself in so many ways. This is so frustrating becuse I just feel like I got knocked back 3 feet when I am trying to improve my life 2 fold. Disability insurance is great and helps out but you cannot live on it and so many try to

Ashley,

I was extremely ill until my freshman year in college. Everybody told me what I could and couldn't do. I just didn't listen. Now, a decade later, I'm as healthy as ever and I live everyday how I want to live it. I suggest you do the same. Definitely get a second opinion.

With all of that being said, with my history, I do not like doctors. Sometimes though, they're are good doctors out there looking out for your best interest. You must realize that the doctor in this case may actually have your best interests at heart.

Every darn doctor I have spoken with in the past 2 years says that this disease comes and goes. I had one look at me and say you will be back on hand and knees begging me to put you back on meds. Fat chance she is lucky I didn't drag her sorry butt into court on hands and knees for almost killing me.

I have decided that i am not going to pursue this any further. I will supplement my income how ever I have to just to survive. Thanks for all your input it was appreictiated alot
