How do you find fraudulent transactions?

I have recently received a statement from your firm today, for collections.
I would like to know where you get your information from and how do you know that the person you are sending to; is in fact the person that owes the debt?
You have sent this collection notice to Mr. Paul Alan Chapman; of which has suffered a severe financial theft, via the Wells Fargo Bank. He has been trying to trace down the bebefactor of the fraud for 2 years; and it would be greatly appreciated, if you could verify some information for him.
The amount submitted is approximately what has been taken from his checking and savings accounts; including all overdraft fees and charges incurred, due to the fraudulent transactions that have occured.
