Lost/ stolen cards

If you report a card lost or stolen, do you have to still close the account or is it automatically closed?
Depends on the type of card. If its a credit card the whole acc
Depends on the type of card. If its a credit card the whole account and card is cancelled.
If it's a check card linked to a checking account than just the card is cancelled and they will issue you another one with a different card number but still linked to your checking account.
