I need help I have been trying to get a hold of someone from Bass Associates or I Collect with no such luck. How do I go up setting up payment arangements if I can't get any you to return my calls.

Like stated above, you can try and work something out with the original lender...some people have had success with getting them to pull the account back. If you haven't read the other thread yet, several people have had contact with Bass and have had no luck. Check out this thread below.

I pretty much just told them until I see something in writing they will get no money from me, I told them they can call me all they want and I'll just keep telling them the same thing.

My last post wasn't really helpful. But if you haven't already, pull your credit report. If the debt was with a collection agency and then moved on to Bass, which I am asssuming is the law firm handling the debt for I-Collect, then there is a good chance it's on your credit report. You can get all the pertinent information there. That's how I found a couple of debts that I didn't know about.

I guess I-Collect is the company who bought the debt from the lenders and then they use Bass and Associates to collect the debt for them, but Bass is not a Law Firm...everything they say and do is very illegal.

I've recently pulled my credit report and neither Bass or I-collect was on it. I recently filed bankrupt so I no longer have to deal with them.

I know others on this site have not had much luck with them. A lot of people on this site are wondering what to do next, because they won't accept payment arrangments and they won't validate the debt for anybody, which is against the law. There has been a lot of complaints against them so they are either going to be shut down soon or they will have to start following the rules.

Get the address for bass and associates. Send them a debt validation letter, have it certified. Just sitting back and doing nothing will only hurt yourself. Do as much as you can to cover your butt. This way is for some strange reason you should go to court, you have a trail of trying to make the debt right. You can also request a stop and decist of all phone calls and request everything be submitted by mail. Educate yourself with the rules that CA's must follow.Good luck. Happy holidays

Hi

If their first contact with you was over the phone, then under fdcpa they are supposed to send you a notice after five days of their first contact with you. That notice should mention clearly the amount of money you owe and what rights you have if you don't think that the debt belongs to you. The notice must also notify you that if you do not ask for validation of the debt within 30 days in writing then the debt will be assumed to be valid. However, if you write back to them disputing the debt within 30 days of receiving the notice then they will send the evidences that the debt is indeed theirs. This notice also tell states that if you ask, the collection agency will provide you the name and address of the original creditor.
