I got messed up with payday loans. I am unemployed and broke, my checking acount is getting redder and redder. I stupidly took out $1600 in PDL's. This started Nov 29, 2006, so it hasn't been that long. But from what I read here, it will just get worse and worse. I got loans from 6 different companies: esidelend, rt 66, 500fastcash, usfastcash, paragon, and paydaycredit. I live in Florida. I don't even remember filling out than many applications, but since I was in a financial jam, I withdrew the money to pay expenses. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would appreciate it VERY MUCH!!

Relax, you will be able to take control of your situation. Try and things will improve from this point. Ok, first thing you should know is the laws in your state followed on payday loans. Check the companies you are dealing with if they are licensed in your state or not. If they aren't, their business will be termed legal and in that case, they are not allowed to charge interests and fees on the loan. You are liable to pay back the principal amount only. Those licensed will have to abide by the laws mentioned below.

Pull the bank statements and figure out how much payments are done on the loans. You will know the latest standing and deal with the pdl places accordingly.

thank you for the website. I tried to check the companies but none came up in the search. The Florida statute than was sigted was not listed either. So I am wondering if none of the PDL companies are in this data base anyway.
The companies I used were: esidelend, rt 66, 500fastcash, usfastcash, paragon, and paydaycredit.
My bank is going to "charge off" my account by January 8, 2007 since there hasn't been any money in it since December 8th. Then I won't be able to open a checking account anywhere for 5 years. Since I am unemployed, I doubt that opening a new account is an option for me anyway. Am I sunk?

Buster, I also just PM'd you a list of banks and cu's in Florida that you will still be able to open an account with even with the chexsystems report. To check your PM's, you need to log in. Then look up at the right hand side of the page. You should see a line that says "You have X new messages" It should be right under the search box. Click on that and it will go to your inbox!
