I hate AOL. I fricking hate the d@mn thing! Why do people still use it? It's crap. It's always been crap. It will always be crap. And I don't give a sh*t who they partner with - the add-on will be just as crappy.

So, to you AOL, I say....go away!

I'm going to join in here and rant about how friggin' much sprint sucks. They might as well not even tell you how much your monthly charges are going to be, because you are going to be paying at least $10 or $20 more than that.

And then..If you try to call them, you either can't understand them, they can't understand you, or you wait for 6 hours.

I work from home, so I rely on my internet and my computer for my paycheck. When I had AOL, I had four different computers crash within a month. We have tech support. Finally, one of the technicians asked me what internet provider I had. When I told him AOL, he said, "Get rid of it. Our programs are not compatible with AOL. I don't know what it is about that company, but we've had several computers crash that use AOL." I got rid of AOL and never had another computer crash (currently I have the internet through my cable company and no problem with it).

My son had sprint and hated it, also. He finally broke his contract with them, which messed up his credit.

I have been through the same thing, and was no further ahead than you all are.

I used AOL for several years with no problem...in the early years of their existence. Then, somewhere in the midst of it all, something went horribly wrong. Their internet service started to really stink. Their customer service was worse. I cancelled. They offered more months free. I declined. They persisted, nagging, until I finally raised my voice at them and got downright rude, refusing their offer and demanding that they cancel my account. They finally did, and told me my account was paid in full, and that I would not be billed any further. (I was debiting through my checking account every month.)

Next month...I was billed. I called. Received an apology. Charges were NOT reversed. I called again. More apologies and excuses. Charges still not reversed. By this time, another month had rolled by, and I was billed AGAIN. This went on for FIVE MONTHS. When I finally got them to stop billing, I was determined never to deal with them again.

I was so wrong....

4 years later, I received a phone call from a collection agency. They stated they were collecting a past due bill for services rendered by AOL, in the amount of $15.78. I lost it. Completely and totally lost it on this collection agency. Once I calmed down, I explained the situation. They were very nice, but asked what I was going to do about paying it. I paid it because I didn't want my credit report showing a bad mark for a stinking $15.78 bill from AOL.

I will never deal with them again. Ever.

I sometimes just click buttons to see what they do... but I tend to stay away from the ones that say "format hard drive."

Got myself in trouble doing that a couple months ago. Our financial accounting program at work is UNIX-based, and basically the whole program is just a thousand small scripts. Say I want to look up a customers account, I type in FA.AS into the command line, and then it runs the account service program...

So I was bored one day, playing around in the system, I thought "there's a lot of programs in here I never use, I wonder what they do?" So I just started running them one by one.

Turns out one of the programs was put in by tech support to set-up a brand new company... when I ran it, it went through and erased all our customer accounts. Ooops.

So when I called tech support, they're like "you shouldn't even have privileges to run that... only tech support has that clearance." Well, stupid me gave myself the highest clearance so I could run it.

They're like, well you need to put yesteday's back up in and we have to restore the whole system from the backup tape. Too bad I was a bit lazy and didn't run backups for about 3 days like I should have.

We ended up having to restore our system to 4 days earlier, and I had to spend 2 days re-entering all the payments and account transactions.

Long story short, I learned not to "play around" in our system.

That was a hard lesson learned, Debtcruncher. If I don't know what they're for, I generally stay away from them - now. I have also played around with some buttons and ended up calling our tech support. They were not too pleased and asked what I was attempting to do because the buttons I used had nothing to do with my job (medical transcription). That was about 15 years ago. Since then, I've learned to just stick with what I know and forget the rest!

jeffjedi, I just want to say I could have written any post about not being good with computers. I only had a computer at work until I retired. Never had one at home. The only stuff I knew on a computer was what I needed to do my job and they taught me. So yes computers have been around 25 plus years, but some of us have been exposed to them only in the workplace. Know what I'm saying?

Well thank goodness I never have anything to do with AOL, I really don't give a rats hat about it and have no need for it! Our ISP is Cox Communications which is regional here in the genteel ol' south. Up north it's all Charter and Comcast, there is so much more available that AOL and so much better, perhaps eventually AOL will just kick the bucket.

I have a Nextel cell phone and now I don't like the fact that Sprint and Nextel merged. I never had any problems in the past when it was only Nextel, but like Finsfan said, when you call them, you can never understand these people. I have to keep asking them to repeat themselves like 3 or 4 times before I finally understand what they are saying

I've got a rant about something else......

WHY DOES CHRISTMAS SHOPPING TURN PEOPLE INTO COMPLETE MORONS???

I've been putting off my shopping for too long...And the family party is on Saturday afternoon, so I'm down the the wire.

I needed to buy some small gifts for my younger cousins...SO I went to that heck-hole that they call Walmart. It's always too hot in there, and too many people...And they ALWAYS park their stupid carts down the middle of the aisle....I don't want to move their cart, because a lot of the shoppers at the particular location I was at today were a lot larger than me and I didn't want them to beat me up for moving their stuff. So I stand there and watch them get all snotty and huffy for having to move their cart out of the way. Is it really that hard to park it over to the side? I've NEVER had trouble doing that in my whole life, but maybe I'm extra intellegent.

And then you have to stand in a long line to pay for your stuff....I had bought some little bottles of perfume for $5.00 for my little cousins to go in their gift bags I'm putting together...I rubbed them all on that little "Rub here to deactivate security system" thing on the register...But of course I set off the alarm on my way out. Then had to stand there while the Walmart Gestapo searched my bags to make sure I'm not stealing anything.

So then, I go on over to Giant Eagle (Or as I call it..Big Bird) grocery store to buy some gift cards for other relatives because for every $50 in gift cards you buy, you get 20 cents off each gallon of gas at their little gas station..So heck yeah! I needed to go to the ATM, and my bank has a branch. I insert my card in the machine, and I can't figure out how to work the stupid thing. I put in my pin, and the screen comes up, but the only option on there is to deposit or buy stamps....I want CASH! I thought I was going nuts..So I poked my head around and said, "You're going to have to show me how to work this thing..." After the guy behind the counter (He was kinda cute by the way..woo hoo!)came out and tried to work it for about 10 minutes, he figured out that apparently it was BROKEN, but they didn't put an out of order sign on it...So then I had to fill out a withdrawal slip and do it that way...Gahhh!

I'm worn OUT...And I've got more shopping to do tomorrow...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Ari, I also have Cox Communications for my internet as well as my phone and cable. I would never change to anything else. They've been great.

People do act like morons while Christmas shopping, don't they? Did you ever see the movie, "Jingle all the way?" It resembles pretty closely what Christmas shopping is like.

Jessi- I know what you mean!1 I was in Wal Mart looking for toys for my youngest sons girlfriends kids. Well,I was just standing there kinda staring at something, wasn't even going to get it, just looking. This woman SHOVES me out of the way, a big woman at that, and grabs it. I didn't even take into consideration she could have whipped me every way to Sunday, and said" Lady, all you had to do was take it, I didn't even want it, no need to shove" !! Then I get to the line finally, and the checkout girl was bit@@ing and moaning about having to work, and how much overtime, blah, blah, with another clerk, not ringing me up. Finally I said, look, I'm sorry you have to work, have overtime, etc., but I need to get home to take care of my mom. Besides, be real gratefull you have a job and get overtime, I lost mine, and never did get overtime!!..Karen

Karen, that's awful how that lady shoved you to get something. Some Christmas spirit. You're right about the cashier. Instead of griping, she should be grateful for her job, ESPECIALLY the overtime!

Hope your mom is doing okay. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

Hey folks...I definitely can identify with the Christmas shopping rant....

My sister and 2 of her children work at our local Wal Mart. You know that commercial about Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) where you see all the shoppers lined up outside the doors, and the cashiers all inside telling each other "you open it!" "no, I did it last year, YOU open it!" - that's precisely what it's like every year for them! No one wants to open those doors!

My sister has had people hit her with carts, chase her with carts, throw things at her, yell, scream and curse at her, and generally just act like jerks...all because she's wearing that blue vest that says "can I help you?" on the back. The workers are not allowed any time off from the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas....while I would be glad I had a job if I worked there, I am very glad that I do have a job somewhere else!

OK....I AM SOOOOOO DONE SHOPPING! GAHHHHH!

I left my house at 10:30 this morning...I just got home about 30 mins ago...

Traffic was horrible! I don't remember it ever being as bad any other year than this year...

But I was doing ok, until I realized I need some gift bags for some of this stuff I bought for Chris's relatives...I bought them these awesome fuzzy bathrobes...But they're big fluffy huge robes...Even the "robe" size boxes aren't big enough.

So I went to the dollar store...They're OUT...Went to Party City...They're OUT....So I went back to heckhole Walmart....They're out of big bags, all but these red ones...There was a lady standing there...I was on my cell phone with my mom..This lady had to hear me say, "Yeah, I'm just standing here waiting to get some of these large gift bags, but I have to wait my turn..."

This "female dog" grabs ALLLLL of the bags...She bear hugs the WHOLE rack of them....There was at LEAST 15 bags on that rack...She didn't even count them, she just took them all....After she did that I said "Well I guess I'm not getting any bags, since this lady just took them all!" I felt like taking a roll of wrapping paper and whacking her in the back of the head with it...Or kicking her.... I asked if there were any more, but they were sold out...They had Happy Birthday bags, but it's CHRISTMAS...Gahhhhhh! I bought some clothing boxes, but they're not quite big enough...The stuff barely fits in them...They look horrible...But oh well...I'm beat...lol

Omigosh..Listen to this one, this is how stupid the cashier at Meijer was today. I bought a few things, and went through the self-checkout lane. I rang up my stuff, and I had some bottle returns, so I gave them to the cashier. She stared at them like she'd never seen them before, then starts to try and manually type them in instead of swiping them. She spent about 15 minutes attempting this terrible feat, then called a manager to ask how to put in bottle returns. The manager told her to swipe them. So she did, 4 times. My bottle return amount was $7.90. You can do the math..7.90 x 4= 31.60. My total bill was 18.76. Sooo..$12.84 came shooting out of the change slot, even though I hadn't paid yet. I tried to explain to her I hadn't paid, and she says, "I know. I can't figure it out. Take it to customer service, and they can fix it. " Then she puts the change in my hand!! I was stunned. I really intended to go to customer service and settle up..But then I saw the line. So I left. I figured, if she's gonna be so stupid, then I'm gonna benefit.

lol, Jess...When I got home from shopping I told my husband your gift bag story...He thinks you should've yelled at the b**ch!!

You know what?? When I was driving home a jerk came flying out of Best Buy and cut me off, I had to slam on the brakes, and the guy behind me had to swerve. A$$hole.

Oh well..I'm gonna wrap..have a good time tomorrow Jess...

I don't yell very much...

Polly thinks I should have grabbed some out of her cart. I thought I should follow her around and grab everything that she's looking at...Like "Oh, let me have ALLLL of these frosted flakes! I need them ALL!" I got paid today, I have enough in the bank to really tick her off....And then I could stand in line for 6 hours to return stuff the day after Christmas...lol

I think it would have been funny! You could play it off like "I heard that the songs of the whales are relaxing!" But deep in your mind, you would know the truth...hehe

Like when you buy the scented soaps for the smelly kid in school...I used to do that for this girl that was my partner in Biology class...:)

Cars that blow my horn because they want me to merge into traffic when there is oncoming traffic, makes me mad so I just sit there and watch the birds fly by. Man in post office who seem to think that he could just jump in front of the line and then said I was huffy when his packages were blocking the debit card machine for me to use. The crappy restauraunt we went to because its my daughter birthday and she wanted to go (Japanese Steakhouse) They didn't sing to her or anything when I specifically requested it and the clencher to my rant for the season. The waiter asks me what I want to drink and I say COKE, he brings me a PEPSI, folks when did Pepsi and Coke become one and the same? BTW in TN when you say Coke people know you mean Coca Cola, well at least I thought they did... :D

They might not have Coke products at that restaurant..Most of the Asian restaurants here serve Pepsi products. I prefer Coke as well...Pepsi doesn't come out well as a fountain drink.

I refuse to eat at Texas Roadhouse anymore..Last time we ate there, the server said, "Let me go get your bread..It's the best part!" and he never brought any bread...I asked another server, and she said, "Sure! I'll be right back" she never came back..Finally the manager came and brought us our bread..AFTER we'd already eaten our meals....I was not a happy camper! :-P

OHHHHH!!! I've got a flippin' rant!!! I had some suicide-island chicken wings today..One of my favorite things in the world!! I decided to treat myself to some..They come from a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant and are absolutely glorious! Anyway, I ate them and loved them. I came home from shopping, and slowly started to feel lousy...My bones started hurting, I felt light headed..Then I threw up. And I couldn't stop. Sorry guys, maybe this is TMI, but I am ILL!!! I don't have time for this...Oh please help...

Guess I'm in fine shape to join in the rant...I was sick last week, had to take 2 days off work. Came back, found out two of my co-workers have strep and were in the office all day with high fevers (meaning they are definitely contagious). I felt better for a couple of days, but now I'm sick again....

Just to add to the AOL rant ... I used to do tech support for small MLM ISP companys. Most of the issues were with connectivity. But 90% of the time I found people with AOL. I would have them remove it from their programs but also had to tell them I could not guarantee that the program was completely gone. AOL dispurses segments of its program to different files on your computer. No telling where it may be. I've even seen it go as far as to affect the registry on computers. The only cure for AOL is a hard drive wipe. AOL's been sued by the federal government once for this and it looks like they are headed for another suit. Best advice I can give is to use the free CD arriving in your mail box as a frisbee.

EWWWW! Oh gosh have I ever been there. This morning, I woke up at 6 a.m. with my little dog running all over my bed frantically, panting heavily. I jumped up to see what was going on...just in time to see her crap on my bed, then jump down and trail crap all through the house to the door....where she sat, looking pitiful.

All of my bedding, my sheets, blankets, comforter, etc are in the wash...and I'm shampooing carpets today.

I'm so glad to have missed all of that! I intentionally decided NOT to do Christmas except to set a gift to my grand-niece in Oregon. My life was stress-free from Christmas hassle, and it kind of felt good knowing that the best Christmas I could give myself was to put a debt resolution plan in place and start following it.
