The worst time of the year for collectors

Hey Beauty - a follow up question:

Would that make end of Feb/begin of March the best time, because that's about the avg time for people to receive any tax refund from the IRS?

About 2 months ago, a collector who will not accect payments or validate, already asked me about my income tax! I said"what refund, we pay THEM"!!..Karen

YES. According to the stats. This is the worst time and tax season is when everything picks up. Usually around the middle of Jan. You would be surprised at how many people rush taxes to pay bills.

You bet tax time is great for the collectors. Thats when they violate more laws and intimidate people. Although with the help of this site, people have become wiser and they are making these agencies validate the debt before they pay them a dime.

My tax refund is always taken each year to pay the county and city taxes for my house. Sorry CA you have to go to the back of the line again

Most people just want to spend at this time of the year. They keep their card rolling by paying the minimum without worrying to pay it back. So, not only collectors have hard time in their collections, but creditors also don't see their way of getting the money back. Even worse, they offer new credit to people. So, they don't worry about their business because they will be able to recover the loss later when they will make people pay their debts.

I have had a very good month. Collections is all about liquidation and negotiation. Fortunatly I don't work off charge off and I understand it is much much harder to collect on.

Being debt free is the best Christmas gift I can think of that has a monetary value.

I agree with you, FYI - a Christmas present I hope to treat my family and myself to next year.

Oh, and BTW, I AM aware that there are collectors with morals such as the Mistress Ari and other helpfull collectors on this forum... that message goes out to the frauds who are trying to scam people out of money they know isnt owed!! Merry Fraudmas COLLECTCOPRP!!!!!!!!!

Come tax time the collectors don't have to violate many laws b/c people already have the intentions of paying off their debt when they recieve their taxes. So as soon as someone calls for money, they'll be more than willing to pay it b/c they have the money.

Well I got a call from NCo today about a Payday Loan. He was very rude so I can assume they're getting tired of people telling them theres no money.

I think the spelling error issue comes from mouthy collectors who use poor grammar and spelling to tell us to " ju5t p@y y0uR b1lls... blah blah" Especially when alot of us dont owe and money but the collectors harrass us because they clearly cant dial a phone or spell the names correctly.

I misspell enough and I've never had anyone call me on it and if they have I ignore it anyway. I type too fast to worry about something unless I misspell it badly.

we "rag on" collectors that utilize illegal debt collection practices that violate the fdcpa. We are fully aware of why debt collectors exist. Most of the people here are truly interested in paying their debt - not escaping it. When you hear us "ragging on" debt collectors is when they contact people with threats of arrest, jail, or worse. Those collectors who call people multiple times in one day and harrass them to no end. Collectors who have called debtors names, wished them harm, and made their lives hell.

We don't have a problem with collectors in general. They are just doing their jobs. We do, however, have a problem with collectors who can't seem to follow the laws that govern their own industry.

"PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS RAGGIN ON COLLECTORS BECAUSE WE CALL" and call call and call and call.... Even after we've told you 5 times that you have the wrong number, you call and call. When we tell you that you have the wrong person or that the account is an error, you call and call and get nasty and start lying and name calling......

Not becuase you are doing your job - I highly doubt your job is harrassing non-debetors....

Has anyone thought of why thier" bank robbers? Same reason, free money.
