I have 6 payday loans,,, 3 of them are with "affiliated" companies,, the amount loaned was about $1300.00, I am not sure how much I paid, I do know that I did NOT pay anything on one of the loans and I sent several emails (they never called me when I defaulted, anyhow I "copied and pasted" some state payday(Illinois) lending laws and "cease and desist" requests, even though they did not contact me, just so they did not contact me at work, and low and behold all three responded to my emails and said "we are sorry you were not happy with the service we provided, consider your loan paid in FULL"
You know the saying "sounds to good to be true", now I am thinking they will just forward the three loans to a collection agency that is going to hound me,, anyone else experience this before???

Pull your bank statements and calculate the payments done on the loan accounts. You will know the status of these accounts and know if there is any balance. You don't want this to be sent to debt collector who might do collections with added fees in the later stage. Get the "PIF" in writing. It is an important proof for the chapter to close.

I have all three emails and have printed them, they all say the same thing and at the top it specifically says " this is NOT an attempt to collect a debt"- this is the only internet pdl company that has been understanding and I have done ALOT of research and believe it is because of a recent lawsuit (not filed by myself), and they lost!

Cindy, I am curious as to what state you are in.

I would recommend that you request letters from these two companies indicating that your loan has been paid in full. You also need to look at your state laws to determine whether these companies are legitimate in your state or not. You may also want to contact the attorney general's office in your state (or the Office of Financial Affairs in Louisiana) to determine whether there is any kind of ligitation going on against these loans in your state.

Did you keep a copy of your cease and desist letters?
