Hi, you came to the right place. This is a holiday weekend..So I would say expect a call on Tuesday. In the meantime, figure out any questions you want to ask the counselor. Also, all of us here have been in debt situations, and we're always around, so feel free to vent or ask anything at all. Merry Christmas, and good luck.

absu69 - welcome to the site!

In addition to finsfans advice above (which was very good, by the way), I would advise you to go to http://www.firstgov.gov/ and look under the "consumers" section for the free credit report link. That link will allow you to request a free credit report from each of the three credit bureaus, for free, once a year. By providing your personal information and answering a few questions specific to your history (old street addresses, etc.), you will be able to obtain and print off the reports immediately, no waiting for them to come in the mail. Also, the site I've referred you to does not force you to sign up for some "credit monitoring service" in order to obtain your "free" report. These reports truly are FREE.

Get your credit reports before the debt counselor calls, review them, and have them ready when you discuss your situation with the debt counselor. They will be very helpful.

Think positively---say I have a JOB! Not just an alright job. It is a job, it pays money and that is the main thing. It does not have to be a job you keep for the rest of your life. But, it is what you need for right NOW.

Yes, things are tough right now, but they will not always be this way. Already things are looking up because you have found a job. Good luck!
