My insurance is 137.00 a month. I look at my bank account today and they hit my account for 250.00, when i called they said they automatically renew my policy. RATS. what do i do now. account 91.00 remaining and my other important bills are due too. The money in my account was to the tee. Now i am so short and so upset. What should I do. I have direct deposit and i can not afford to miss rent on the first but when my other bills come out, i am screwed.

I know you are, Beauty, but you need to calm down and take this one step at a time. It sounds like you've probably had a rough weekend, and all that has happened is clouding your judgement right now. Take some time away from these forums and let your mind calm down before you do something rash that you will regret later. Give yourself time to settle down, and then review the suggestions we have offered you. Start making those phone calls to local assistance agencies to see if you can get some help.

Beauty- I've been where you are and with a young child. Getting in a panic isn't going to help. You need to call, like the others said, and talk to your creditors, where you pay rent or mortgage, etc. Explain the situation to them and see what arrangements can be made. Your home should come first, then other outside bills. You can only do so much in a short period of time. Later you can decide what expenses to cut and re-budget since your husband is gone. And who knows, he may be back, but you need to take care of business for you now...KAren

Sit down and figure out your expenses from now and until your next pay period. If any of the items you were planning on paying are automatic withdrawal, then call up the companies and ask to either pay a different amount, or to change the date.

Next, speak with your landlord. Tell them you'll be late on your rent, but you'll be sending in partial payment, and the rest will come on your next pay period.

Talking with these people can sometimes prevent further action if non-payment happens, and you're still in the hole.

You should also always try to keep a balance in your account at all times. That way if something does go through that you weren't expecting, this won't cause any damage to your day-to-day living.

Regards
Mike

Your utility companies will most likely work with you. You'll probably have to cancel cable, or at least reduce your package. You'll have to seek out help from other resources though regarding your rent. And starting tomorrow will be your safest bet. Pay what you can on your rent. Social Services will be able to give you food vouchers, and send you to food banks.

As far as other debts, find out which ones needs the most attention.

Sorry to hear about you losing your job. Especially right after the holidays. Stick with it, and you'll be okay. Good luck on your new job search. You never know what the new year will bring.

Regards
Mike

Beauty, losing your job is not the end. Start looking for a new permanent one, but in the meantime, sign up with three different temporary agencies. If you have work experience, you will get assignments. The upside of working for a temp agency is that you get paid weekly. That should help with the cash flow. If you have a job interview come up, make sure your temp supervisor and the supervisor where you are assigned know that you have a "doctor or dental appt." I hate suggesting dishonesty, but being purely honest in this situation could cost your your temp assignment. Also, while temping, you could find a really neat new job where you are appreciated and the pay and benefits are just what you need. Temping is definitely a way to "try and buy" so to say. If you don't like the assignment, finish it out and move on to the next job. Most of all, start believing in yourself. We are not given challenges we can't overcome and I have a sense that you are a strong person and can handle just about anything that comes along.

Debhendricks01, nice post.

Beauty, Signing up with some temp agencies is an excellent idea. I worked for a temp agency when I became an LPN. I agree with Debhendricks. It's a very good way to get an idea of what's out there and to be able to "try it out" before actually hiring on with a company. At the same time, it would help bring money in quickly.

The best of luck to you.

I think the guest is in the wrong forum. We are here to help each other, not tear each other down. We can go anywhere else, including our own backyards to get torn down. Disaster problems don't usually happen one at a time, they usually come in groups. I find Beauty's situation totally plausible simply because she stated it. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt. And, so what if she's being a "drama queen", is it affecting your life in anyway? Does it change the way you pay your bills or perform at work? Let Beauty express herself. Last time I looked, that right was guaranteed by the Constitution. Hang in there Beauty. Right now things are turbulent, but they'll get calm again.

Deb, I hate to say it, but the same Constitutional right you speak of also applies to Guest. Whether you like what they are saying or not it is a public forum and they also have the right to express themselves. People come here all the time and post things others don't agree with that is just a fact.

Granted. I wasn't tell the Guest he couldn't express himself, just trying to get him/her in line with the idea that we should be here to help each other, not tear each other down. And yes, sometimes we do get off the subject of debt issues, but along with debt issues comes trauma and the inability to focus. We have to help in those areas so we can show people how to stop focusing on themselves internally and rise above the situation so they can see their situation logically, not emotionally.

Go pound salt up your a$$ guest!

Beauty, I have had the BEST jobs from agencies. The last one before I decided to go back to school I made 24$/h, if i worked saturdays 38$/h and it was alot of fun.
You get the chance to try new things and it looks great on the ole resume becuase you can name the company rather than the agency.
Dont be afraid to try factory work. Its not like it was in the old days. Some of the new factories are really neat to work in and the pay is usually good.
Good luck.

My bet is the Guest who posted above about the salt is probably the same Guest who posted the thread that he/she is ripping on now! Good poster/bad poster all rolled into one. I am a manager at a temp agency and I can tell you for a fact NO ONE makes $24.00/hr and $38.0/hr on Saturdays. If that were the case, everyone would be going to temp agencies. Get real Guest.

Actually, temp mgr, you are wrong

I am an HR rep for one of the biggest energy corporations in the US. We are currently in a forced outage..And a lot of temp workers were hired to work out in the coal plant. These unskilled contractors are making almost $30 an hour. We also have some temp admin assistnts who are making between $20-$25. It just depends where you go...

And I think we can voice our opinions--Positive or negative without calling eachother names.

I was a very bad emotional wreck when I came here....And the "cheerleaders" I had at this site really pulled me through. This site really needs to get back to those days. Big time. But I'll save my rant for another day when I'm not so cranky.

oh wow, temp mgr is mad at me.

I think you misunderstood me..I work for Consumer's Energy. They hire temps during outages..And those temps get paid well. I have a college degree and an upper-level position, and these unskilled laborers get paid more than me..Maybe I should be a temp, huh?

So smile, temp mgr..And it doesn't blow my skirt up to tell you you're wrong. You can't piss me off today..tomorrow is my birthday!!! Besides, Jess is the crabby one around here

Have a great day!

Ever heard of a company called GM There moron? Its a large car manufacturing plant. Their pay rates are very nice. When they get new contracts they hire temps to fill the extra spaces just incase the contract doesnt do well...
As for the 38/h on saturdays - thats called overtime. Its mandatory. Maybe your company ripps off its employees?
Maybey your crappy company doesnt get good contracts or maybe you just dont because.. well....no comment.
The reason why not everybody works for temp agencies is pretty clear right in the name... TEMP... Duh!

I wouldnt continue on your betting spree... you dont want to loose your trailor. Dont be mad that regular temps are making way more than you do honey.. jealousy never got anyone anywhere.

Give me your email addy.. I can show you my pay stubs from my agency.

Sorry, couldnt help it. I usually dont do that, but that persons level if ignorance* made me frustrated. How could someone possibly know what the rates for working are in the entire world based on their salary....

Im sending this comment to my old Temp agency as we speak. Super funny.

* not ignorance as in rude, but the accual meaning of ignorance as in doesnt know any better.

OK,
Can we all do a Rodney King and all get along here? And speaking of $38 bucks an hour (which I for one have never gotten in my life), I know from my time working in medical registries that agencies set one hourly bill rate for a temp. In this case, it might be $38 an hour, but I would bet dollars to donuts that that temp is only getting 60 percent of it and the agency is getting 40 percent. So it makes the picture more realistic.
And I for one am going to be HAPPY on New Year's Day!! The sun is shining in sunny California and Saddam is DEAD!!!!!! Buh-Bye evil despot!!!
