I am 28 years old and have poor debt. When I was 20, I joined the USMC and that is when I allowed my credit to plummet. I had purchased a car that ended up getting reposessed when I was stationed overseas. I know I only owe around $1400 on that balance. I also have student loan debt that I would like to get under control. And finally I have credit card debt that needs to be taken care of also. If I were to guesstimate how much debt I have, I would guess approximately $15,000 total. I would like to have all of my debt consolidated and pay one low payment per month until my debt is taken care of. Along with myself, I would like to have my husband's debt consolidated with mine, that way we can pay on all of it one time a month. He too was in the Marines and had experienced a similar situation with a repossession of a vehicle and misc. debt.

Jessie, you did a registration here for the free counseling. This gives you the option to have a free quote and discuss about your debt problems and possible repayment plans. The counselor will review those debts and calculate how much you can afford each month based on your income and expenses. Pick the plan that suits you most and get started. You will come out of your debts within the fixed time period.

I am so sorry to hear about you and your husband's situation. Being in the military, it is easier these days to fall behind.

What I recommend is that you register with this website and a debt counselor will contact you regarding what options you have. Have you tried to contact your creditors and make payment arrangements? I would consider bankruptcy only as a last resort.

Welcome to the boards. You have come to the right place.
