I have always been in debt, but somehow I have always worked hard and been able to pay my bills - not always on time, but they eventually got paid. But I am in the worst mess of my lifedue to payday loans and I really can't see my way out at this point. Today I was turned down by 2 debt consolidation companies and legal aid turned me down because I live with my daughter and I need to include her income with mine so that leave out their help. One of the bankurptcy attorneys that I talked to does not do payday loans so that's out. I am Bereft!! My checking account is so overdrawn - I will nver get caught up - the bank would not close this account because as they put it - it was my fault that the account is overdrawn. My new account won't let me use the atm to withdraw money - so I am stuck!! I am so embarassed, humiliated and STUPID!! I see no hope for me. I have never been this low in my life - and I have lost a husband and two children. I think that my stupidity is what makes this so devistating. I hope that tomorrow is better. It really can't get any worse.

Remember, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. It appears tiny from very far but as you go closer, it increases in size. Keep yourself positive. You will fight with anything in life. Money problem is just a small issue.

Your main concern is to have an increase in your income. Bills can wait for a while. You will have to have money in order to pay them. Can you work some extra hours just for a temporary period? It will be very helpful. Check out the local community places and see if they have any help for people in need.

Have you tried going to a new bank for a new account? Try a credit union, before it is too late. I know EXACTLY the emotions you are experiencing and I was at the same point you are in right now when dealing with my pdl mess. But I knocked them out one by one getting them marked paid in full. There are consolidation companies that will do ipdls, I will get my info. for one company and pm it to you. It will be ok, you will see.

Thanks - I did open up my new account at a credit union. But I can't access the account yet - no debit card - but the checks came today. Thanks Steeler - I will be watching my pm. I do have an appointment with a bankrupcy attorney on Saturday, but if they include my daughters income I am up the proverbial creek. I live with her.

irish - I think for bankruptcy, they only consider YOUR income, not your daughter's. I think the only case where someone else's income is considered is when a married couple files jointly.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here - I'm not sure, but it makes sense to me. But my mind might be clouded by one too many eggnogs!

That probably is why Legal Aid turned you down, most agencies which base their services on your income will consider other's living with you income. And your daughters are 18, so there went your dependents. Bankruptcy is different, only your income will be counted and I believe when determining your budget they will count the expenses of your daughters because the are still students.

If your children are in school/college and under 21 sometimes it makes a difference when applying for aid and services. I know in California for aid it is 18, but I believe for food stamps it can be any age and the income is counted for the whomever lives in the home.

And I do know that even though I live with my mom, when I filed BK, it had nothing to do with her income and bills. Have you tried going to a paralegal instead of an actual attorney (costs less). When you go to a paralegal it is actually kind of like a do-it-yourself BK, even though the paralegal did everything. I just signed papers and had to show up in court.
