Geez---sounds ukky! In this area, people are doing the fever and cold thing. I expect when I go back to school next week, the germs will start in on full attack.

My kids never do the typical illness. They have both had meningitis among other things. My son who has MRSA has an auto-immune disorder along with other ones, and that puts him at risk and the fact that he had hearing aid implant surgery within the past 6 months put him at greater risk. MRSA is definately not something people want to get.

Since I am in daily contact with little germ laden creatures (aka--KIDS) and have been for over 21 years, I am pretty much immune. But, my first 2-3 years in the business were AWFUL--I got everything from those kids! At school, all I seem to do is wash my hands. And the school buys hand sanitizer in huge bottles, but I don't know how much that really helps in a school.

Boy can I identify with this thread. So far, both at home and work, we've had:
Strep throat
Upper respiratory flu
Intestinal virus
and general cold/sinus junk
Thanks so much to my guys at work who come in with 101-degree fevers and stay most of the day, only to finally go to the doctor at 2:30 and find out he has a 103-degree fever now. And strep.
Lorri - I used to be a lead teacher at a private daycare/school where I taught up to 40 2.5 - 4 year olds....walking germ containers, my doctor called them. When I became pregnant, my immunity dropped so low that I was constantly sick with something. I finally had to quit my job under doctor's orders.

My daughter had some kind of stomach virus that was going around and then ended up with strep throat. The stomach virus started on the Thursday before Xmas and lasted all the way until Xmas day.

Let's see...
My Chris's nasty "friends" gave him a cold...Which he passed to me.....His cold turned into a sinus infection...Which he also gave to me which I had to take 1,750 mg's of Amoxicillin and this torturous nose spray to clear up....And I've been puky for the last week or so. (And NOOO I'm not pregnant...At least 3 people have asked me that..lol And yes, I'm sure..)
According to my Dr. there are a lot of nasty viruses going around. :(

I had a sore throat a couple weeks ago, that's about it. My nephews/neice had a little stomach thing that they passed around to each other, then to my brother, then to my mom. But it was all over with them in a couple days.
Suebee - I'm one of those people who go to work when I am sick, unless I am truly dying and can't even get out of bed. I figure: why do I want to use up a sick day to spend it in bed? I'll drag myself to work, and then save my sick days for when I want to go do something fun.

We don't have sick days, only vacation days, and I had to use 2 of mine the week before Christmas because I was so sick. I got better, came to work, only to catch strep from one of my guys at work. GRRRR

Well I work as a server part time and wash my hands constantly because of this stupid cold I have had for 10 days. It seems to have gone away but it really totally grossed me out that I had to blow my nose at work. So I would step aside, blow the horn and then go wash my hands. I brought in anit bacterial soap myself because the yahoos that started this shop are really really cheap. I out to take picturs of some of the things they skimped on to save money when they opened this place.

I was illness free all year so I used most of my sick time for personal appointments - things I couldn't take care of from work. I was planning on being out of my job in August and working for myself, but found out that I had a lot more to learn. By the time the end of the year rolled around, I had 3 sick days left. No problem I thought, I won't use them and I'll have that much more at the end of the year. Since I can't carry over my sick days, the firm pays the unused onese at the end of the year. Karma or Dharma or whatever it's called stepped in. I got the worst case of intestinal flu and it lasted for 5 days. I ended up owing time to the firm, resulting in a smaller paycheck. Here's the worst irony. I got sick the day the firm had a nurse come in to give flu shots. I could tell I was coming down with something already and declined the shot. When the office manager asked me why I was declining after signing up for the shot, I just looked at her and told her it was too late ... I was already sick.

The only ones I get sick when I go to work when I'm sick are my family. One of the great things about working at home - I can usually work even when I'm sick and then save my "sick days" for fun - I can identify with that, Debtcruncher!
