My mother got a credit card for me and I ran it up and now it was sent to a collections agency. Can I consolidate this bill? It is in her name but my debt.

nachet - you cannot consolidate something that is not in your name, unless you are a joint cardholder. Is your name on the account at all? I'm not sure how having both names on the account would affect a consolidation.

I would reccommend paying your mother back for this bill. Discuss it with her, explain your situation, and ask if she will accept payments over time.

Can a debt counselor talk to the agency to settle and bring the total debt down?
