Following the Fair Credit Act and Asset Acceptance LLC

Mortgage company ran my credit for a home. Found out that asset acceptance llc purchased a debt from Ameritech that was in collections to tune of $664 and date of last activity was 8/13/03. Called Ameritech, they state that my last payment was not recieved after moving out of state and date of delinquency is 1/4/01.
I sent the debt validation letter to Asset Acceptance LLC on October 27th 2006 disputing this debt, Certified mail, return reciept and recieved no response.
I then sent a letter explainaining this matter to all 3 credit bureaus along with a copy of the validation letter and copies of the USPS certified mailing reciept and signed return reciept.
Am I being too hopeful that all 3 credit reporting agencies will drop this from my credit history?
I have checked my credit reports in November and December and Asset Acceptance LLC continues to show as collection account.

I'm of the opinion that all three of the credit reporting agencies are basically useless. I've spoken to all three and not one of them can tell me how the information they receive is verified. Essentially what happens is this: a creditor reports whatever regarding an account and the credit reporting agencies post it without verifying if the information is correct. They only assume the information they receive is correct. It's up to you to ensure your credit report is accurate. I can assure you that if you don't do it, they certainly aren't going to.
