I thought I had paid of 7 payday loans and was very relieved but I got a phone call from the kelly law firm saying they were going to have me arrested if I didn't pay 3500.00 the original loan was 500.00 and at least 50.00 was pd well I tried to talk to them offered 500.00they said no I set a letter dispiting the ammount. they called again much nocer man than the previous woman said he would take 2900.00 I offered 500.00 he said no way I complained to BBB and my state AR. and have heard no more from them a couple of weeks ago they said they were sendding my case off somewhere to be assessed??? I sent them a C&D letter saying only USPS contact but have heard no more. What should I do?

If you have sent a debt validation letter and have confirmation in writing that Kelly Law Firm received it, and you also issued a C&D letter, you shouldn't have to do anything. I would recommend contacting the payday lender directly to verify what they say you owe.

What state are you in, and who is the payday lender Kelly Law Firm are trying to collect for? If you check your state's payday lending laws, you most likely will find that you were charged an illegal interest rate/finance charge, and don't owe as much as the payday lender says.
